2025/26 David Moyes

What a bizarre proclamation. You can have any opinion you like on whatever manager you like but you can expect some challenge when you claim nobody in world football is better than David Moyes for Everton football club, or that Everton football club is incapable of attracting someone better than David Moyes.

@davids routinely denigrates any proposed alternatives to Moyes, or simply states they are unobtainable, I assume he thought Ancelotti was unobtainable when we recruited him, whilst saying that Moyes isn't all that. It's a peculiar position to take. I'll ask you and @davids the question that you both seem to like to ask others, if Moyes isn't an amazing manager, who would you reasonably replace him with? If the answer is that there is nobody, not a single person, then the protestation that you're not all that bothered about Moyes starts to seem like a fraudulent statement.
But as it turned out Ancelotti wasn't all that anyway. I've stated on many posts that I'm not a commited fan of Moyes. What I am stating is that I highly doubt any manager would get a better tune out of this group of players than he has. The upcoming profitability rules mean that TFG aren't even if they wanted to going to be able to break the bank this summer window,so we are at the same sort of place we were last August which I believe leaves Moyes as the best option currently.

Of course you are fully entitled to your opinion but I could not disagree more. I wanted to get rid of him half way through his first time at our club and have not changed my mind since then.

Three games ago we were within striking distance of the champions league and now we're as close to Leeds in 14th as we are to Brentford in 7th. The derby knocked the stuffing out of us. You are quite correct that targets and expectations change, tomorrow's match and how we approach it will tell us a lot about how Moyes views our remaining four games.
It's worth bearing in mind that a lot of the points we have dropped recently have been caused by individual player and VAR errors. Not a defence of Moyes more a comment that with the rub of the green we could be the team in 7th.

Putting Moyes and Ancellotti in the same sentence is an insult to Football.

Yet, for some strange reason you try to say Moyes is a better manager.

You seriously need medical help.

And if we would of won all are games so far this season we would be Champions.

Flirting with relegation feels like it has gone on for years but if you actually look at the seasons it was a 3 year period, 21/22 & 22/23 because we appointed Lampard, (nice guy but wasn’t up to the job), & 23/24 because of the points deduction.

Given everything that was going on at the club the league position was remarkably stable except for the Lampard period.

20/21 Ancelotti. 10th
21/22 Lampard 16th
22/23 Lampard/Dyche 17th
23/24 Dyche 12th (before points deduction)
24/25 Dyche/Moyes 13th
This is exactly what I've been looking for someone to say for ages. We have been in relegation battles due to the dog muck managers we've had in charge back to back. Yes there has been extenuating circumstances in some of the seasons which haven't helped. But for the most part, its awful managers, dragging the team down to their level. Every single season we was involved in the relegation battles I was convinced that the team was better than it was allowed to be shown, because you had Sean Dyche insisting we could only possibly play a low block 38 games a season.

This club needs to move into the modern world, with modern recruitment and modern coaching. The first step is bringing in a manager who wants to actually win games instead of going for 0-0 and maybe we nick it, like we've had for the past however many years.

Always credit for Moyes when we win, but it's the officials and players when we don't. Funny how that works.

Hard to see us getting conference league now after this weekends results.

Really going to affect our summer recruitment and the type of players we will be able to bring in.

Maybe a fresh start would be a good idea under those circumstances, as grateful as I am for how he has steadied the ship.

Gotcha. "I'm not a committed fan of Moyes" but literally nobody else in the world is a better choice. Cool. Cool.

Moyes bottling our chance at Europe will deffo be used as an excuse for why Moyes couldn't possibly be competing for Europe next season. You can see it coming. "What's he supposed to do, he can't possibly be expected to get us up the table with the players he could sign. All the good players want European football". Nothing is ever his responsibility for some fans. It's weird.

I would bin him off regardless if we got Europe or not

We're definitely outsiders for Europe now. He won't be going anywhere, however. I don't think TFG are bothered about titles, as long as we stay out of trouble they'll be happy for us to just bumble along.

To be fair, Moyes said the same the other day. He couldn't get the players he wanted last summer because they all wanted Europe.
