I'm not a fan as I'm aware of his limitations that are very frustrating. But I'm a realist, and TFG aren't going to provide the money that would be needed to update this squad in one window or to be able to attract the standard of manager who'd have basically what would be this group challenging for trophies. Everyone who wants Moyes gone then suggests alternatives that aren't realistically coming here. Another season of stability is hardly the worst thing in the world.
What is another season of stability? I guess you know he isnt good enough if you are saying another season of stability. So why wait?
Exactly what does having another season between 9th-14th do if he remains next season? Why waste a season while supporters are getting crippled by ticket prices. It makes no sense whatsoever to me.

You obviously think he cant get us to the next level so why wait to bin him off?

Joint 12th with Newcastle poised to overtake us.

Only people with an agenda (and a large sense of being a bellend) would describe this table position as joint 12th.

Are Sunderland fans sat there saying they're joint 12th?

I just have to ask for people who want him to stay: why? What has he shown that makes you see what we have done this season and think, "yeah, another season of going out early in the cups, bottling every single opportunity to push on, not developing any youth players, sticking with the same defensive-first mentality. All of this is good!"

I genuinely don't understand how you can see other team push on and Davey Moyes is still the exact same manager he's ALWAYS been and you still think that keeping with him is the right choice? Not trying to argue, I just don't get it. I understand the absolute crap we've been dealt with since he left last time but keep going back to an ex after the sexy Spaniard decided to take up heroin as a sport, the Dutch lass who always rolled her eyes at even being associated with you, the 18 year old who was in wayyyyy over her head, etc.

It's just kind of crazy that he has support. He's not really done anything fantastic. We finished 12th last year, he blamed not getting Europe as a reason why we didn't get in HIS players, he's most likely not getting Europe again and, yet, we are going to just handwave that he's not responsible for that?

Agreed. He's steadied the ship but I can't have another season of expecting nothing.

Not sure who to get to replace mind.

He annoyed me a little yesterday, in one conversation Hes talking about wanting to finish as high as possible and get into Europe, which is great and being positive.

And then he once again brings up avoiding relegation battles. Move on ffs. We finished comfortably outside those places last season.

you could argue he is being realistic, I find it annoying because some fans complain to other fans about moving on from the past, Moshiri, Kenwright, Sharp etc yet our manager keeps bringing things up as well. The club should be embarrassed what it has put out on and off the pitch over the last three decades and understandably some want to move on from it, the manager should do the same, it seems bringing up these things is only when it suits certain individuals.

How do you ever expect to substantially push on as a club if that’s the mindset, constantly using anxiety and over caution as narratives and excuses when things inevitably go wrong, again!

Given everything that's been said in this thread, for those of you who are strong advocates of another season (or more) of Moyes, what are your minimum expectations for the 26/27 season? Please don't say "stability" without expanding upon what that means to you? Ideally lay out minimum league position, cup expectations, European qualification etc....

For example, at the start of this season I stated that a top half finish and a cup run would be a good season. We may yet get a top half finish, although that is by no means a given, but we bombed badly in the cups. So I'm a little disappointed, although we are roughly where I expected us to be.

For me, a CEOs job is to obersee all areas/have the right people across all areas of the business. If you say he needs to be sense checking players before agreeing to allow them to come, then my question is why would it be on him to make that ultimate call? What is his experience in football recruitment? Who is he to say, to as you propose, say "actually Moyes, no. You arent having that player" As I say, hes not a director of football. It wasn't long ago he was marketing at Arsenal. Id trust Moyes judgement over his.

Kinnear said not so long ago how Moyes refuses most players brought to him

Kinnear needs to have the right man making calls on recruitment - that's Moyes. If it isnt, change the man, or bring in an actual DOF.

But bloody hell lets not be saying the CEO/Kinnear needs to approve transfers.
My wording probably doesn't come off what I'm trying to say..

Kinnear opens the purse for the transfers. The owners, when asked for more money this summer will ask what we've done with the money provided last summer, how have we used it ?
Kinnear will have to Answer that question, the same question which Kinnear should be asking Moyes.

I've given you the tools, what have you done with them other than decrease their Value..

Yes Kinnear isn't a football expert, but he is a businessman.

Like you said though with Moyes turning down copious amounts of players put to him, is he becoming the spanner in the works 🤷‍♂️
Before the Jan window, and now once again, a lot of his Interviews come across like he's blaming recruitment.

I only threw out a supposedly simple post, and now I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore..

We need a DOF whoever is managing the club..

Exactly ! He drains every ounce of positivity every time he opens his gob. He's the very definition of a dour Scotsman.
