2025/26 Jack Grealish

The bigger picture beyond his behaviour is that he slows down a pretty undynamic team at the best of times.

We need pace all over this team and signing a player who's short of it and who's seen his best days would be a pathetic misuse of resources.

Nice lad, entertaining now and again. But no way should we be putting cash into his signature.
But he's creative - even now, after missing half the season only 4 players have more assists than him.

Yes, I think it's about 6 and he's scored a couple. He's been of use. But it also shackles us into a way of playing that is predictable and easy to set up against.

How many times did we see the ball scooped out wide left and then we stalled as Grealish dawdled on the ball?

He cant go past defenders and he moves inside. It's all very one-paced and we need to play in a more dynamic style.

All solved with the acquisition of a dynamic Left back overlapping

Yeah, I tend to agree. 31 in September. I think we need to take his current injury as a warning sign.

Evertonians are sentimental fools and will want Grealish to sign.

We've got to get back to some ruthlessness or we'll be kept down among the no marks forever. I dont think many of our fans understand that players should be judged on their overall contribution to the present and future, not on what a great lad he is and what he's done in the past. In the 80s we had fans who knew that - they knew what sort of player could push us on and who were just cult heroes. We've lost that discriminating attitude and we need it again.

That's the 3rd time this season to my knowledge he's been pictured / seen polatic abroad. First one was during an international break, 2nd during a suspension I think. It's his life, and there's been no stories of misdemeanours - more a local fixer helping him back to his apartment in an earlier Dubai bender.

But, he's 31 later this year, and his fitness can go off a cliff quickly. Rooney was maybe a case in point. Contrast him to Ronaldo - similar age, and about to play in a World Cup at the age of 40. I'm not criticising either player - their business, but I would hope Moyes is thinking long and hard about whether to sign him permanently, or get another loan. I suspect he's got 1, maybe 2 more seasons at the top level, assuming he recovers from the injury okay.

So that'll be a 5 year contract then, nailed on.

He's a fantastic player, and genuinely seems a cracking lad, but at his age there's no way I'd want him at my club for the price that you'll have to pay like. As you've said on this thread - that drinking will catch up with him when it comes to recovery form injuries.

Obviously if you could get another loan like you have, I'd probably take it.

How many times did you see Mykolenko overlap, or Barry at the time, do anything movement wise?

We need pace, but you also need players who can do something on the ball.

I've seen Mykolenko a few times (not much) overlap and the pass didn't come.

More importantly though is that Grealish has no ability to inject a bit of pace over 10 yards to make the room to swing a cross in.

He pointedly never attempts that and always turns back or passes inside to KDH / Garner.

We're missing a trick here and it really should be Ndiaye down that left hand side and Dibling should have been brought through now on the right - and probably would have been under any other manager than this King Herod we have.
