Non League Football

York have got the momentum, as I think at one point they were seven points behind Rochdale.

However they got to the play off finals last year and bottled it against Oldham, who finished 6th, to York’s 2nd and a shed load of points behind them too.

Both deserve to go up automatically tbh, as they’re so far ahead of the rest of the league.

Lots of the NL have a bigger budget than those in L2.

In leagues with 24 teams, the usual "golden" points target is 50, look at League 2, with 3 games to spare, bottom of league Harrogate are 4 points from safety on 33pts.

Theres a reason teams who come up from the NL usually do quite well. The only side I cant recall in tecent time is Sutton.

Warrington Town play their last home game of the season today against Workington. Town are just safe, but Workington are only one point above the drop. Both of us have abysmal GDs, -17 for us and -15 for Workington. Last game of the season is away at Morpeth, 3rd from bottom. I can't say it's been a good season for us

Having secured the title a fortnight ago, we played our final away game of the season today (at the “Ted Lasso Stadium’, no less!). We racked up our 100th league goal in the process. This result also means we’ve gone the entire season unbeaten away from home, a feat apparently unmatched ANYWHERE in the whole pyramid. Amazing achievement. 💚

I’m now just the last home game away from completing my own personal ‘perfect season’. I haven’t missed a game. It’s been a fantastic ride, I’ve loved it. COYT. 👍🏻🙂💚

A nice 4-0 home win yesterday in our last game of the season.

We’ve missed out on the play offs by 2 points which is rough, especially as we have done well against the teams who filled those places. We battered Maghull at home and beat Woolton, also had away wins at Squires Gate and Droylesdon.

All in all though a good second season for us in the NWCL.

Here’s an article I wrote for the socials for 2 lads who played their last games for us yesterday. This goalkeeper will go on to better things, he’s a class act.

Good to see you got that last win, I think Widnes may join the league next season - in their new era.

For first season, youve done well and should be proud. Maghull took 2years to make playoffs, so timescales arent too far.

Maghull go to MSB Woolton next week inthe playoffs, should be a good tie.

Currently watching the Rochdale vs York match. It's completely crazy that one of these clubs won't be promoted despite having 106 and 108 points currently. Automatic promotion from the non-league divisions are the most difficult achievements in English football, imo.

Been watching it to, as my missus is a Yorkie, as they`re my adopted team. tight game at 0-0, but York just edging it at the mo.

I do agree with you about promotion from non league, to the league, it`s ridiculous.

York finished second last year, about ten points clear of sixth place Oldham and lost in the play off final ( bottled it ).

A lot of my mates are Chester fans and getting out of the National League North has proven nigh on impossible. They've been in the playoffs for the last few years and are on the verge of it again this year but a few years ago they finished second and were well clear of third but bottled it in the playoff semis and that's that. It's brutal in non-league.

I often go and see my local team, Garforth Town (the Mighty Miners!) and we were lucky enough to get promoted to the Northern Premier League Division One East (snappy name) a couple of years ago but it's the same all the way down the pyramid, one automatic spot and sometimes one via the playoffs but often the playoffs don't happen due to what's going on in the higher leagues and who is relegated. I genuinely believe that the lower leagues are much more competitive and interesting.
