Summer transfer window.

Before we spend any money the people buying the players need to sit down with the manager and align their strategy, otherwise we'll just buy more young players that he won't use. If we're sticking with Moyes get him an experienced right back, a tall number 10 and an experienced striker. That should be enough to see what he can do with his preferred set up. If he gets us into Europe next season then we can reassess.

The likes of Brighton, Bournemouth & Brentford seem to be able to sign players that have pace, power and are technically good, without spunking crazy money.
We need to do the same after last summers car crash of a transfer window.
I don’t have faith that we can though.
It's funny how we are able to 'poach' supposedly big name coaches from United etc. but have failed to improve on an utterly disgusting scouting setup for over a decade. STILL no focus on speedy wingers or midfield players capable of playing more than two useful through balls or season.

It's genuinely baffling.

Striker is gonna be the problem again...just look how much woltemade and sesko cost and they have hardly set the world alight
I want to know the thinking and logic behind knowing we had one striker in the squad who was tall, gangly, awkward with the ball at his feet and a poor natural finisher, then bringing in a younger version in EXACTLY the same mould, and no alternative option, when loads of money was available to be spent.

I guess if we are bringing in Grealish for a sensible amount, given Branthwaite will not have any takers, it's probably best to lose Ndiaye if an offer of £50/60m comes in.

Add that to anything we get for Barry, Alcaraz, Patterson and McNeil and it should mean the owners don't need to invest £100m of their own money to improve the general squad.

What would we get for those four, maybe £35m?

Say £85m generated from selling five players, and us needing to bring in two strikers, a quick winger and a right back.

Surely the owners would be prepared to back the manager with an additional £50m?

£130m, if spent right, gets four quality players. Just ask Brighton, Bournemouth, etc.

Senesi is available for free and Spurs seem confident they can get him, so why couldn't we?

I don't want Ndiaye sold, but January made it clear the these owners are nowhere near as ambitious as the fans, so it might be needs must.

I think we just ran out of options, couldn't afford players or they didn't want to join...and we took a punt, maybe a loan for a striker could be an option this time

He signed Barry on July 9th after wasting time on Delap & then negotiating with Villareal.

You take that £27.5mil and add Rohls £20mil and were not far off from £50mil to use on a CF.

I'd go all in for Estève from Burnley. They'll go down, he's tall (6'4"), only 23, and he's capable of doing what Branthwaite can in playing the ball out from the back. We sorely miss Branthwaite from our defence when he's not there because he's the only CB we have that's able to do that so it's a must to replace that if he's not there. I love Branthwaite but we can't rely on his fitness anymore and it's imperative that we address that.

He'd be my choice too. Will get plenty of games with Branthwaites injury record.

But I think a lot will depend on Keane staying. I've no doubt we'll offer him an extension.

It shouldn't depend on that though. We need to succession plan better. Keane and Tarkowski need to be phased out next season and with Branthwaite being injured all the time it leaves us with only JOB and he's been our RB more than our CB. We need to do a big defensive rebuild.

Senesi would be a better option but I doubt we'd get either.

As for strikers, Moyes's record is appalling, isn't it? More often than not he signs duds. Scamacca, Barry, Beattie, Hugill busts. Jelavic was good for a few months, useless after that. Johnson was ok (his fee at the time was big for us so expectations were higher than what he provided). Only one who was a good signing made with any serious money was Yakubu.

Who...tho? As per my examples that cost more....I would settle for a player that can hold the ball up
