2025/26 Thierno Barry

From earlier in the season the nonsense narrative was : How can we judge him when we never create any chances for him.

When the answer was always that his movement is garbage and he has absolutely zero desire or determination. A limited striker in Beto shows him up just by trying and breaking into a sprint now and again

I think what everyone has to remember is that he was the only striker we could have got in the summer, the £60m+ we spend on him and Dibling couldn’t have been better used as <checks notes> no other striker would have come to us.
We could have quite easily spent way way less and got a striker that at least could be arsed sprinting towards goal when it’s clear a cross is about to get flashed across goal. Other teams bought unheard of strikers for relative buttons that actually seem to care how their manager will rate their performance.

A hungry, younger, cheaper version of Beto that would leap at the chance of playing for us would offer more and could’ve sold for a small profit after 2 years. Clearly someone saw potential in Barry. Clearly a very big mistake has been made. And as for Moyes being big on checking out players character and background, he’s also had a stinker. He’s the type of player that fans hate unless they score weekly.

For someone who has achieved precisely zero, he’s got some balls walking back into that changing room.

And no he isn’t young and still developing etc etc. He’s played plenty of football now and plays like a holding midfielder that’s been asked to play striker. How does he thinks his career is going to go if he has limited ability, awkward coordination AND is arrogant, lazy and weak?

So much for our senior professionals setting standards. Needs an almighty humbling kick up the arse.

I don't see the club letting him and Beto go in the same window, while I think Moyes will want another striker (probably Delap) Barry is younger and still has time on his side to improve but he needs to improve his attitude first.

Beto will have one year left on his contract and by all accounts isn't signing a new deal so there's a good chance he goes.

Not even sure Beto needs to go to be honest. Decent enough back up to change things when required, what we need is someone that keeps him on the bench.

I don't think that attitude is changing any time soon. Already made up his mind that he doesn't want to be here.

That data analytics company better be worth its salt. The difficulty as I see it is though is it must work by generating results for a specific profile of player but if that’s the case, it’s likely Moyes will be the one who insists on the player profile. Not sure what profile Barry came under (if we were using it then)

You're probably right but doubt the club would be willing to accept such a loss on the investment at this stage especially if Beto goes.

Maybe a loan if we get players in to replace similar to what happened with Moise Kean
