He’s not suited to Chelsea. Teams sit back against them so he has zero space. He’s not intricate enough in his play to combat that.

I was okay with the deal last year when we just needed a striker, but we need to do better.

Barry is also young and has a lot to learn and we've already invested in him.

And Beto does the business more than he is given credit for. Has the third best goals to minutes ratio of ANY strikers we have had in the Prem era (more than 10 goals scored), other than Lukaku and Yak.

Any incoming striker needs to raise the bar, not lower it.

This is highly debatable by the way. Barry is the same age and personally I think he has more raw attributes to work with than Delap, and I’ve seen nothing to suggest he would lead our line any better than Beto right now, which is really saying something. There’s a shortage of world class strikers but if we can’t find anyone in world football better than frigging Liam Delap then I am concerned about this new recruitment model.

I think it’d probably be at the expense of Beto which I worry about… Beto wants to be here and delap (frankly) doesn’t/didn’t.

There is no way we should be paying the same fee as his Ipswich release clause was. He's flopped, we’d be taking a punt on him turning good.

Nobody said that, the conversation was about Liam Delap who also doesn’t lead any line anywhere, and comparing him to our current first choice striker who is Beto.
