….Howard Kendall but he’s not on the list. Great player in arguably our best ever team, because of his association with the club he’s brought back as Manager and is the most successful in our history. Close thread.

No idea how Lineker makes it, only here one season and we won nowt, won the league the season before and then the season after he left. Some very odd ones on there, to be the best ‘value’ means having a valuable contribution to our history.
But we bought Lineker as a striker and strike he did. That contribution in one season has got merit. I think his ability did overshadow how we played and I agree it cost us but what an incredible impact he made. Our finest striker since Dean. Although Latchford is close in my book and Lineker was not here long enough to build an affinity.
 
I remember a lot of fans, at the time, questioning why we bought Paul Power and claiming he was "past it", but he turned out to be a shrewd purchase.
And from the outside putting it politely he just look pretty average,I was underwhelmed,how Paul proved me wrong,wow,what a fantastic couple of years he gave us,so much so Sheeds was moved to centre midfield when he was available again from injury 👍
