2025/26 Jordan Pickford

Mate, I adore Pickford (I sponsor this thread), but nothing in it? I had the pleasure of watching Southall, and he was the best in the world.
How far behind is he then? Hes so underrated had he won something with us or even England or maybe even played for a top side he would be spoke of as one of the best. Martinez won the World Cup and people raved about him great keeper no doubt about it but winning something pushes you into the lime light. I didn’t have the pleasure of watching southall in his prime caught the end of his career but great memories of him when I’d peer through the gate by the church to just see him in the 18yard box and also met him at stokes ground he took me and my brother into the changing rooms to meet the players so he always was my favourite player and also being a keeper myself but for me Pickfords my favourite ever player now doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Where does he rank in the world?
100% up there with the best. Allegedly Alison was the best I’d take Pickford over him. And nothing to do with him playing for Liverpool don’t think he’s as consistent as Pickford. Just asked the question on google and a report mentions Courtois, Donnarumma, as the best then mentions for Raya, Martinez, Alisson id have him over the latter 3

Allison is far past his best now. Raya is good but he's got world class defenders in front of him, which makes him look better – but he's a top quality goalkeeper that's for sure. I've not seen enough for Donnarumma to suggest he's superior to Pickford yet.

Would I swap Jordan for any of those? No.
Think Donnarumma saved city's season, he's top class for sure. AC Milan fans will tell you he doesn't have Pickfords loyalty mind

I mean Gough, Weir, Stubbs, Distin, Lescott all get a nod but think Jagz was superior. Like I said been a lean hunting ground over past 30 years. Rodriguez absolutely gets a mention, but not ahead of Cahill in an attritional 4-4-1-1
Personally think Rough is a league above all of them, never seen someone lead a back line like he did. Wish I'd paid attention to him before he was 38!

Played 38 games for Everton.

Gets a place in the 'Greatest Everton team in the last 30 years'.

FFS.

You pick the weirdest things to get outraged about.

Gough was an Echo favourite who's talent way undershot his reputation.

Richard Dunne did the hard yards in that defence. 'Goughie' was like late-Van Dijk: all pointing of fingers and avoiding responsibility.

If anyone actually watched him play for Everton they'd know that.

I did, thanks.

Btw; *whose & *Dunne

The save was so good and with me watching 2 games at once. That i did not even know watching it live that he saved the shot with the speed of it, till replay
