Is there an argument to say branthwaite coming on changed how we could play and that getting his better players back makes us better. 45 mins is probably all branthwaite had in him. First and second half chalk n cheese.
He brought the ball forward and played a forward pass to a CM all within 5 minutes of coming on. He massively improves us.

Our fundamental issue, as obvious in this match, is a complete lack of any wide pressence to get to the endline and put balls in. Thats when defenders truly panic, chaos truly happens, and you get good scoring opportunities against teams bedded in.

The complete lack of any fullbacks is the cause, because our wingers are both dribblers(which is fine with actual fullbacks). I figured beforehand we might lose so a draw isnt that surprising, its just a shame to see points dropped due to a simple lack of 30m in spending.

Awful first half, truly awful. Better in 2nd half and that’s down to Branthwaite allowing the backline to play 15yds further up the pitch.
Great finish from Barry.
McNeil and Myko should have been dropped in the Mersey at full time.
Felt Patterson going off was the wrong change, should have been Aznou on the other side.
Assist for Gana but he was off it for large parts.
Armstrong looked lost as well.
Made up KDH and Ndiaye are back.

Crowd was so negative until we started getting on top. I understand it but also it's counter productive

Crowd can only feed off the players or bad refereeing decisions. When the manager serves up that dross in the first half & you’ve paid more money to go you aren’t going to clap politely. If there was energy & effort the crowd would engage.

I do miss the cushions thrown onto the pitch though.

I hate singling players out but deary me, Mykolenko was abysmal tonight. Ample opportunities to overlap, simply wasn’t interested and yet more attacks ground to a halt. McNeill was equally abysmal, that 1st half performance was horrendous, low on ideas and bullied all over the pitch. It’s a tough watch when you see how slowly we play, tepid, unimaginative and looking to rely on a Ndiaye moment of magic from somewhere. Even some of the simple 10 yard passes were off it today, chance to break at the end and we cheaply concede possession again. Tough Monday evening watch that, and my half time chocolate was garbage too to compile my misery. Quicker we can source 2 genuine, offensively capable fullbacks and lash McNeill in the bin, we will turn the corner 👊🏼

Yep, between the 2 of Patterson and Mykolenko, shocking to not bring on Aznou as that was the easiest and logical choice to make.
