January Transfer Window 2026

I wouldn't let anyone responsible for the summer window spend a penny in this one tbh.

It was lacking in a few areas but it still turned up Dewsbury-Hall who is absolutely the profile of player this club needs to be signing. You put him in the Wolves and West Ham teams and they look nowhere near as bad as they currently do so him coming here has very much lifted the side up 4-5 places.

Grealish excellent as short term fling.

Barry will come good eventually, did everything right with the chance yesterday, just a top save from Dubravka.

Lacklustre business at the back but at the same time the long serving backline can keep clean sheets in those type of games with its eyes closed and clearly they thought Branthwaite would be back by now.

The main priority in January has to be finally getting in a decent RB otherwise it goes beyond parody.

I think people giving the summer window 2s and 3s out of 10 are being a bit ridiculous tbh.

People giving the transfer windows 2s and 3s out of 10 have an agenda mate.

Nothing short of the signing of Lukaku MK2 would get them to change and even then some of them would still be calling him lazy and trampoline shins.

Having had a good scout around other teams forums, I can honestly say that the only other team that seems to have supporters that hate the manager and the players as much as a lot of our fans seem to do, is West Ham.

Bipolar is the right word.

I kno for me is the frustration of being left short in positions, having to look at us have two gk on the bench. Not saying to have depth like chelsea. But feel most windows we have had have been left wanting more

We are not in a position to be spending significant sums on players who do not improve the starting 11. That's why I was very unimpressed by our summer recruitment.

Agree with you on most of that apart from Barry I can’t see him succeeding here unfortunately, not a PL striker imho. His reading of the game & strikers instinct are really poor.

Yes I could see Moyes( if he’s still here) pushing for Bowen if West Ham go down. But he will be 6 months off 30. Who would you go for, Grealish or Bowen
Bowen strikes me as a bit of a Di Livio type a la Fiorentina.

Even if WHam go down, he'd probably take a payout than leave.

Yes, we always need more players. But we have a budget too and I'd sooner we didn't try to fix every single problem with the squad with stop gap short term solutions. Let's see what the squad looks like at the end of next summer.

You’re right but until we get stable (we are getting there I think) then what’s the pull to attract players who are a) affordable, b) want to come and c) improve us?
There are 19 other clubs in the PL including a load in Europe plus several in London where foreign players often want to live in.
Plus the fact that there are so many Euro clubs in the CL and therefore a shop window.
Apart from the stadium which we can now showcase then there is very little attraction to us over Champions League, European football or London living.

When can target good players but we only hear of very few whom the club has ‘tried for’. My guess is that agents have said no before we even bother approaching clubs and that there’s a very small pool of possibles for us to try for.

As we stabilise and progress, we have to hope that the pool increases, as it does for other clubs.

No spending in January please. We need a new recruitment team and a new manager come summer. That’s when we can reset and plan without thinking in terms of transition or managing a live crisis. Keep the cash for then.

Would prefer a loan with an option to see if he is good enough defo need to be getting a fb in. Prob more when looking at the squad yesterday

I think it’s massively unlikely that Botofogo would agree to loan him to us, given that there is interest from other teams. The last thing we really need is a protracted transfer that runs to deadline day, we need the signings in early doors. I doubt he would cost that much, probably £9m at the most, which in this day and age is nothing for a starting RB
