Might as well shut down the thread till Moyes is gone. State of that bench today, and it will come as a big shock when youngsters think of leaving again
Am I missing something here? Who would go on that bench today and actually get on?

Well, none of them will get on with the current manager, which is kind of the point.Am I missing something here? Who would go on that bench today and actually get on?

Im really not sure what your point is. Because the current bench means we are one injury or fatigue from Nathan Patterson playing in one of about 4 positions which also shouldn't be happening. Since they shouldn't be coming on maybe we should just play with 10 men instead? But none of them should be coming on right now. Like not one.

Are Campbell and Welch usable?I'm saying it does not matter who is on the bench from the academy, not even if Moyes wouldn't use them, because Moyes could not use them. None of them are remotely close to being usable in the PL. Patterson is better than all of them even if he had to play up front.
Are Campbell and Welch usable?
Is Tom King usable? As an emergency centre half? No, but needs must. An academy attacker is not coming on today ahead of Barry, Rohl, Patterson etc.
Is Tom King usable?
Your arguments ridiculous. You are arguing it's better to have nothing than literally anything. For someone that actually does spend time in the youth team thread it's a bit of a mystery why you bother if you actually think there's no point to any of them being there ahead of no one. It's a bit odd to say Campbell, Welch and King are fair to pick as needs must and then draw the line at objectively better players than them. If youre saying they wouldn't play anyway so what's the point then fine, but we might as well have named a 4 man bench in that case because them 3 and Aznou wouldn't get a game and aren't ready either.Read above.
But do enlighten me: what name(s) would you stick on today's bench that aren't on it if you were the manager?

Graham might not be PL ready, he may not even be championship ready but he's certainly better than an empty seat on the bench. Tamen may one day have a future here, he's arguably better than them 2 on the bench already, it's better for him to sit on the bench than Welch or Campbell.
Olayiwola or Foster aren't ready but at least you could give them a go on the bench for the sake of it than nothing just for match day experience.
It is ridiculous as you believe Nathan Patterson is a better winger on either flank than Braiden Graham which is both hilarious and wrong.Right so I asked a very simple question, who would you stick on there, and only Tamen for Campbell/Welch makes sense. Thee other 3 names are "not ready but match day experience" which means 9/10ths of eff all.
If you notice I'm in this thread a lot you should know I don't think any are remotely close.
My argument isn't ridiculous at all - you're just whining for the sake of whining.

In a PL match Patterson is better on the wing than 18-year old, never played for Everton men's team, Braiden Graham. 100%. And I love Braiden Graham.
….i’m surprised Welch and Campbell are still at the club and I’d be even more surprised if they’re still here next season. It makes no sense to me that they’re on the bench when there are simply better options. I’d have Billy Tamen ahead of both in the pecking order plus he’s got the physicality to cope.
You’re selecting substitutes with a view to managing game situations. You’re right, the game situation yesterday called for the introduction of Patterson when Dibling left the field with cramp. If we were a goal down and chasing the game with somebody like Graham on the bench, then for me Patterson is a less obvious option.
I might still go with Patterson but I’d have to think about it. Graham might be 9st dripping wet but he was playing ‘men’s football’ in Ireland at 16. He’s instinctive in the box, he’s sharp and creative in the top third so could make something happen.
I do think the inclusion also gives them such a boost and great experience being around senior pro’s in a match day squad. Can’t see much of a downside to including youngsters with a possible future at the club, especially when they are superior to others that are selected.
