Last night just shows the gap between those at the top and us.
We are improving slowly, but we’re always going to be limited with what we’ve got.

Absolutely need a new pair of full backs because the current Mykolenko/O’Brien show kills the system we try to play. The Grealish effect from the left is fading. I’d want us to try and use him more central, or from the right and make him go to the bye-line to put some crosses in. Him slowing things down without a competent overlapping fullback is pointless.

As for Beto and Barry, neither are capable of holding the ball up, or even effective at roughing up centre defenders. Why can’t we get them to play on the shoulder of the last man and get some through balls for them to run on to?
You're right about the improving slowly bit, but whilst we're improving slowly a lot of teams are improving faster and were already at a better overall level.....which effectively means we're going backwards or are static at best. To have any chance of returning to the upper echelons of English football we need a quantum change in many things, and that needs those guiding the Club to be less risk averse whilst having big balls and deep pockets.

It's because we were.

Massive inferiority complex....which emanates from one source.

I know they are title challengers, but our lack of belief against anyone in the top portion of the league is, and always has been pathetic under this particular manager. Until we rid ourselves of the inferiority complex we won't move on. A massive change in culture all across the Club needs to be escalated. At some point you have to say "sod this, it's just 11 v 11 and we're going to have a go" rather than continuously hold out to soak up pressure and hope to scab one on the break.

We actually started well yesterday, we've started on the front foot in nearly every game this season.
Without a forward that can break the deadlock in those periods, teams will always find ways to get back into the game.

We have a pretty impressive team when all available " bar Rb/striker" we don't have a good squad. So losing any of those first team players is going to make a big impact. Especially when its 2 of the best forward thinking players.

Arsenal could put a 2nd team out and still get Europe.

That's the difference..

Wake up and smell the coffee lads.. it's going to take time and patience.
2 things that can't be accepted in today's world.

You know the coffee goes cold if you leave it too long.

If it were your business, and you were not getting the returns you felt your strategy and efforts should deliver, would you keep doing the same thing and waiting for something to improve? There's a reason why entrepreneurs fair better than steady eddys....they strive for success and see potential reward rather than just worry about risk

Again, no patience.
Try understanding the aspects of progression from bottom feeders.

Look how long its taken Arsenal to build that squad, and they were already up the top end..

Until you can see past today, you'll never accept tomorrow..

...and 70%(ish) of entrepreneur's businesses go bust in the first 5 years. Honestly, I'll take a slower climb rather than the scattergun approach of the last decade.

That was annoying. I like seeing that on the TV as always looks and sounds amazing, hairs on the back of the neck job

They wouldn't do it for that dirge at the pit. They cut to show it in its full horror

The crowd also sounded very quiet compared to the videos I've seen. Very petty.

We were well off it last night.

Of course, Arsenal are a great team. We were missing some big players. If Arsenal had played well and battered us 4-0 I'd have shrugged and said that's football. They're just a better team.

But last night was disappointing because Arsenal didn't turn up, and we were passive all over. I mean, this tells its own story:

Everton never for one moment believed we'd get a result last night and it showed.

Arsenal were gifted a goal and didn't need to get out of first gear.

And who was the manager during the last time....

It's very evident he has some sort of issue with trying to get a result against "top" teams.

Top team results are ballacks if the rest of the results are bad. I don’t care bout beating the top 6th if we are losing agaisnt lower teams. Moyes is been our most successful manager in 30 years, then when he left, many more came after and failed and it’s been left to Moyes again to yet again take us from a relegation club to challenging the top half.

Can’t believe how many are waiting and WANTING him to fail just to justify their own view.
