January Transfer Window 2026

Yep. Like it or not, we are currently a mid table team and will finish somewhere been 8th (good) and 13th (poor), but we are in an objectively better position than we were 12 months ago.

It's OK to acknowledge our obvious shortcomings and frustrations while also acknowledging the fact things are much brighter than they were. Multiple things can be true.

So sad how low our ambitions have fallen.

Rohl over Garner 🤔

The post also mentioned Barry finding form and scoring but Rohl over Garner got your attention?!

Genuine question… are ppl saying our full backs can’t defend or can’t be the modern day full?
If the former then yes, a Lukaku type striker wouldn’t get us top 8 but if the latter then one would.
Our defence is pretty solid so the fb are doing their primary jobs.
Our strikers aren’t scoring, with decent service so therefore that’s the primary problem.
Well one fullback is a 6’5 CB who can defend to a point but is poor against speed and offers nothing going forward…not his fault thats the club for not signing a suitable replacement

The other is the only senior LB at the club…so is undroppable. Likely players if he’s not fit. Is limited in defence and offers nothing going forward.

The fullback issue is a hangover from the moshiri years of make do and mend…plus some poor recruitment…thanks Rafael.

Moyes and recruitment team must know this…hopefully TFG have been made aware and suitable replacements are added in Jan

Why wouldn't that be what caught my attention ?

Garner - You don't know what you've got until it's gone..

Rohl - You don't know what you've got until it's seen..

The above probably wont make sense to most people..

We have a cracking player in "Garner" and all I ever seem to read is trying to move him to Rb or replace him..

"Cuckoo land" springs to mind !!

Garner - Contract Extension
Ndiaye - Contract Extension
RB, LB.

CF would be a bonus, but I doubt we would be able to buy/loan anybody decent.

Totally we agree that we need better full backs but even if we get better delivery in the box, we need a striker(s) who can finish from 2 yards more often than not.
A 20 goal a season striker elevates us much quicker than full backs for me

£30M “take it or leave it” swoop for Ugarte as a long term Gueye replacement?

I except he would do very well in partnership with Garner in central midfield.
On the basis that he’s gash, it’s a no from me.

Or maybe he just looks bad in uniteds team.

Never been impressed when I’ve watched him. Just runs around running into the opposition.

A 10 goal a season striker would do. We’d be a much better side if we didn’t have Barry and Beto as our striking options.
Our recruitment team just signed Barry for £27m, if he’s not a 10 goal a season striker, how confident are you that we can find one?

I like Barry tbh, give me a RB, a LB, and just a different style of striker to rotate with Barry

He hasn't shown anything to prove that he will be a 10 goal a season striker based off his performances, I hope I'm wrong. Out of interest, what do you like about Barry? I'm struggling to see anything other than a player that is out of his depth at this level, but hoping that someone who sees different can convince me otherwise, other than him being a nice lad.

I agree with the LB and RB, although replacing them won't make us score more goals so I'd say it's a lower priority. Although, I'm sure the owners will think that spending c30mil on a striker in the summer means they won't be quick to cough up the money on a new one in Jan. We'd probaby have to sell one of them to replace them.
