I was always told that a hamstring injury was usually the result of not warming up properly.

As a competitive runner of many years, I can tell you that you`re 100% wrong.

Your hamstrings and calves can go at any time and for the most innocuous of reasons, hence why so many of these injuries happen when people are actually warming up.
 

I was always told that players are far more susceptible to hamstring injuries if they have to do the running of a grandfather, who should have been watching from the bench, switching off behind them on multiple occasions.
