2025/26 David Moyes

They'll have a week to prepare unlike when they have the CL weekday game.

They'll be a tough nut to crack, but I think we'll compete for the second ball a lot more than them. They looked a bit gummy there today with no bite or conviction.

If they play the way they have against Brentford (where they won but were ropey), Villa and Wolves, we stand more than an even chance of beating them.

I think we’re competitive with a bit of luck and momentum mate, take today, if we keep Chelsea out or score first then I think it’s a different game.

Once we go a goal down against the really top teams, we struggle like today and Spurs.

If we can create the context like Utd we can get a result, but we need to manage the dynamic of the game.

We’re not good enough yet to pull these teams back in if they get the first break - yet - another few windows.

If you spend that cash plus the Kings Ransom in wages for Grealish you need to get right up the table in what is - when all is said and done - a 'kin rubbish league beyond at a push 3 teams.
Chelsea spent roughly three times as much as we did in the summer and did so from a stronger base.

If you could make a vaguely coherent argument as to why we should be beating them on their home patch, it would be your finest work.

Let's hear it, David.

Yep.

Said above mate that we were way too open in the first half and I was expecting a different approach where we kept it tight until the second half.

Against Arsenal we should do exactly what Wolves just did: get behind the ball and engage them in our own half. But we have more quality than Wolves even without Ndiaye and KDH and we can get at the in the whole of the second 45.

Moyes attitude to the big teams is an absolute disgrace and should see him pack his bags at the end of the season.

They'd only won 3 times at home all season. And they were just handily beaten by Leeds.

Just don’t think we have the players yet mate, the two full backs were shown up today, Myko shouldn’t be here next season and Jake is a developing physical centre back, getting badly found out at right back now. Both are being targeted - Neto & Garnacho mullard them today, that’s before you talk about them not managing the overloads. You can’t keep it tight when 50% of your defence isn’t up to snuff.

The other difference was speed of attacking transition, theirs was so quick, ours was so slow, Grealish and Illy stand on the ball too much IMO and progression is slow. Last difference was quality of finishing they scored two chances we missed about 10 during the same period in the first half. They are just a better quality team. We don’t have the players yet.

I agree we need to dig in against Arsenal and raise the tension, they’l blink other pressure - the fact we’re at home as well…..
