They’ve said today that the prices are a reflection of demand for tickets. If they sell the majority of them, this will be the new norm as they’re not going to lower them in future.

The World Cup won’t be a flop either, it’s too big to be. The coverage won’t let it be, even the crap games will get hyped up beyond belief.

Sadly this seems to work in the US. My view is that US sports are utter dumbed down, over hyped shadows of what good sport is (why is why nobody really plays or watches them outside the US, with the odd exception of netball, sorry, basketball in a few countries). However- the drooling yanks still flood there.

They'll turn up at the expense of true fans, they won't notice the lack of passion or atmosphere, because its not something they know of or expect, then they'll drift away not knowing the magic wondering what all the fuss was about.

I went to an American football game last year and there was no atmosphere at all. The sport kinda doesn't allow it as you have a few seconds of sport and then a minute or two of nothing that's usually filled by an MC trying to engage the fans, and the fans can't get anything organic going, such as a chant or song, as the MC drowns them out.

Or worse still the fairly toxic atmosphere for an American football game - it is NOT a family affair, rather someplace to unload all your anger, frustration and venom. Last game I attended was last time I watched an NFL game - very little pleasure

This is literally in my home country for the first time I'm an adult. I was planning on taking like a month off and just hit up as many matches as possible. Not even going to go to one match. It's bullshit. The tickets are astronomical. I have a friend who has been to every world cup since 94 and he's not going to go to any matches either. We're actually talking about flying to Europe and watching some of the matches there because it will be cheaper than going to a match here.

So they'll all have their take.
Then the fifa representatives, the ones selling votes to help host future world cups.
Dignitaries and football ambassadors (the sheik that ordered the journalist killed and his money grubbing shill - knight of the realm david beckham)
Respective association allocation.
Cronies (trump, blair, truss...)
Player allocation.
Vip's (elon and co, basically the trump inauguration bench)
Half time show performers & pals and hangers on.
2030 hand over - Morocco Spain Portugal representatives and some known faces. (probably the least odious of all, but including the ronaldo we all hate).
Then the wealthiest fans that have a line to the stadium owner or infantino on speed dial. People big jeff epstein rubbed shoulders with, you know the ones...

Apparently they're going to have drinks breaks during matches to allow for adverts. That's not good. If Scotland are ahead against Brazil they will want to maintain the pressure - not have to stop and let their opponents regroup. Well, it could happen!
