Having grown up in Wales, they are a very proud people.
They see themselves as the first country to be colonised, had their libraries burnt, bards slaughtered, and were all renamed Davies and Jones in a form of cultural erasure. They don't appear on the British flag, and are missing from a lot of our narratives. When you think of the closure of the mines, you think of poor Northern England. No one talks about South Wales, which has some of the highest rates of poverty and smack addiction in Europe. They are and have been, basically, completely ignored, and carry that in a national psyche of distrust and minor nationalist aggression.
The Scots are a bit like a younger brother to us Angles. Lot of banter but ultimately we love eachother. The Welsh genuinely hate us. Can see there being a successful referendum for independence in the next decade. They'd bloody love it
On top of that they bloody love choirs and a pub in mid Wales on a Saturday night will be full of burly rugby players singing in falsetto.
So that's also weird

I went there for a day or so - I just hate it when they know your English & deliberately speak welsh - I was admiring a guys motorbike who was welsh & another older guy walked up & actually said if you don't mind we speak in our native tongue - I just stood there & I head the F word used & they were looking at me - I told them to F off & walked away if they did that in scouse land they would have been beaten up if was younger & had a mate with me ignorant Bstards - letting their county down they had just been in a Cafe which was owned by a Manchester guy .... in general that I find is a rare event when I visit Wales -
They were big guys too one had a baton club in his hand who walked up too .....

They rely on Tourism & they are thinking of putting a tourist tax on in certain areas too......

Worst part is, he’s a Wales international wheelchair rugby player - why not just give embellished stories about that?
