2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

So with all the talk of him potentially returning in January, what would be best for his development?

Can't help but think that starting every game in the championship for the rest of the season would be better than coming back and getting a few minutes here and there at the end of our games.

And discuss...
Probably right.

It's a fine balance between starting every week at a decent level and training every day with better ( some elite ) players.

Unless we are desperately short of midfielders in January ( and we might be ) I'd leave him at PNE for the rest of the season.

I expect him to be competing for a starting role next season.

Great players here v's gametime at Preston.

He has such a strong head on his shoulders, I would possibly put the question to him.

We will be watching him, do we believe his progress is inline with what we were expecting to see.

Gametime and getting better at different aspects of his overall game, can't be taken for granted.

He has to take into account timing....

With injuries and afcon it could be his best chance at breaking into the side....

Alternatively if he comes back amd everyone stays fit he misses out on valuable gametime

Working with 2 Preston season ticket holders they love him, they think he still a bit raw and another year in the championship would do him the world of good....bet they do
Had a look on a PNE forum last night. Very high praise being thrown about - best prospect they've ever had at the club, future England captain, ready for PL according to them.

Is their forum anything like ours tho ?

I find the eye test usually works better than a forum read.

( No disrespect to your post, or most posters on here. But having been accustomed to forum chat on here, go with what you see.

No idea about their forum. Obviously see some shocking takes on here but I will say that posts above were examples of general concensus on there, rather than just a couple of hyperbolic posters.

As for the eye test, I remember watching him preseason and being very impressed. Wasn't much else to shout about in those matches but he did look extremely promising and was probably the best performer on the USA tour. Have caught him a couple times since for Preston, and while it's definitely best for his development I got the impression that if anything championship already looks a bit too easy for him.

Wasn't questioning your eyes mate..
Just Forums can get a bit to reactionary.

I expect Joey's camped in there.

I'm local Preston and know plenty of North End fans and they honestly believe this lad of 'ours' is going to be an absolute star in years to come IF he avoids injury and doesn't lose the plot. After all, he is still only in his late teens with plenty of time to develop...but we said the same thing about Rodwell and look what happened there. Mind you, different cloth and all that.
