Luck or judgement? Hamilton chose to leave the team that brought him into F1, made him a WDC, and join an unproven team that went on to become the next dominant force. Vettel just progressed up through the ranks at RB, similar to what Lewis had done at Mcl before he left.

Yeah - ancient Alonso and a young guy aren’t comparable.

Maybe, but that was years ago. In Formula One he’s simply a good driver who was in the right place at the right time. But he doesn’t look top tier to me.

Hes basically David Coulthard if he managed to luck his way into the best car and without a clearly superior teammate.

It's really weird how some ppl go to such lenghts to downplay certain drivers for no good reason, when all other opinion and evidence is against them.

You may be right, but the main point is that he was nowhere near as good as Schumacher.

I mean it isn't, he's not even been mentioned (in this context) until now. Schumacher was also a dirty cheat, and would make Verstappen look like an angel in comparison.

Not necessarily luck, they all had the best driver and car combo for their success but still managed to beat their teammates who clearly weren't as good but still very much competent.

Alonso is still very good and probably better than Vettel when they were both at the front but never had much luck with his team/car, but I don't think he's better than Hamilton, who was instantly a match if not better in their first season and Alonso always seems annoyed he had the edge over him.

Schumacher also got involved in quite a few clashes when coming through the pack, often caused by his dirty driving.
