They are not exclusively scouse, I think they are available all over the country, but may be known by different names e.g. 'specials' or 'smacks' etc.

No, still pop in and have a couple from our local chippy.

I am no chef but was told some time ago that this is the result of the fat temperature being too low.

175c in my local chippy...there's a little hand written reminder taped on a back wall and their fish & chips are pretty good.
I've never had a 'Potato Fritter' as they call them here but mrs degsy has and said it was ok,then went back to her usual 'extra' of a 'pineapple fritter'
My 'extra' is what I call a Chop Suey roll.
The chippy calls them Spring Rolls
Mrs degsy calls them 'Cat & Cabbage' rolls

….i remember these 3, good to see Peter Purvis is still with us aged 86 & Val Singleton aged 88. I’d be quite sure he has hold of Shep, can’t recall the name of the other dog.
