Some say we may get up to 10 million pounds, others say much less. We don't know, they won't reveal it. But I imagine our US owners, as very successful business people, will have got a good deal. And, whatever the final sum is, let's not forget that we are not as big a draw as some other clubs.

I get why people don't like the name Hill Dickinson being on the stadium. I am not that keen on it either. To be fair to them though, they are not just a small Liverpool law firm, they are a big respected international Law firm with thousands of employees.

I would still rather it was just called Everton Stadium though. Not a fan of having any companies name on Everton stadiums or training grounds.

The only thing is money and ridicule, absolutely nothing else.
I’d have took a slight hit on the money for a better calibre of sponsor.

But they've gained so much more: an identity for their stadium, just as the later naming rights of COMS did for City and even Ashburton Grove allowed Arsenal some breathing space to identify their space as a football venue before the commercial name off Emirates was placed on it. Us? Straight off the bat almost with the H*** D******** commercial whoredom allowing us no time to establish our independent presence there.

The decision to do that - and then have a constant stream of newspaper articles build on it by just allowing Everton to be projected as a key tenant - will be the subject of case studies and haunt us for years.

This cant be finessed away as a 'pretty big commercial deal for a club that's done nothing for 30 years'.

Something has been tainted here and that'll affect the way our fans view this new stadium for years to come.

The site had a long history with Arsenal and was known throughout as Ashburton Grove. From 1999 Arsenal were planning to build there, so the fans had been in the habit of viewing it as Ashburton Grove for 7 years before it was named 'Emirates'.

Arsenalisation:

In August 2009, Arsenal began a programme of "Arsenalisation" of the Emirates Stadium after listening to feedback from supporters in a forum. The intention was to turn the stadium into a "visible stronghold of all things Arsenal through a variety of artistic and creative means".

Among the first changes were white seats installed in the pattern of the club's trademark cannon, located in the lower level stands opposite the entrance tunnel. "The Spirit of Highbury", a shrine depicting every player to have played for Arsenal during its 93-year residence, was erected in late 2009 outside the stadium at the south end. Eight large murals on the exterior of the stadium were installed, each depicting four Arsenal legends linking arms, such that the effect of the completed design is 32 legends in a huddle embracing the stadium.

That was three years after Arsenal FC owners and their naming rights partners took utter piss.

Hopefully it wont take so long before the Evertonisation of OUR stadium takes place.

It's not so much the presence of Hill Dickinson branding that bothers me as much as the lack of Everton.

I want our name emblazoned on the stadium and I want Everton based lettering on the seats at a minimum.

Not much to ask surely.
