What a load of nonsense. Who cares?! They’re a Liverpool based company paying for their right to advertise.

Everyone from the city and beyond, football fan or not, knows that it is the new Everton stadium. The Everton badges on the side are huge. The ground is a spectacle to behold, even with the name branding.

Everyone wants Everton to return to the glory days of being competitive but refuses to acknowledge that football is now a money game, we need the sponsorship money.

Ultimately, I couldn’t care less what the name of the ground is, as long as we win on the pitch.

Indeed. But also, completely justifiable if they’re undertaking business development strategy.

I imagine that 10m comes with lots of opportunities around the further development of the dock area, TFG and their partners etc.

For example, if TFG do purchase Nelson Dock, I imagine that Hill Dickinson will be providing services somewhere.

TFG could be providing networking opportunities over in the US.

It’s not an unusual strategy. Some companies even operate at massive loses when undertaking market growth.

I don't know what their turnover is but at the game in Saturday me and my mate ( we are both former partners in one of the largest firms of Solicitors in Liverpool) were musing on what return HD get from the deal.

Hill Dickinson are a huge firm with offices in many countries. I couldn't hesitate to guess at their turnover but it will be very , very substantial.

I suspect that part of the deal is that they get all Everton's legal work the cost of which is offset against the sponsorship deal .

Perhaps an accountant could confirm that a chunk of the sponsorship money can be written off to tax?

The Scottish National Stadium, has just been renamed " Barclays Hampden Park ", in line with the sponsorship with Barclays Bank.

There seems to be no problem with that and that`s the national stadium.

My first memory of a stadium being named after it`s sponsor, was Bolton`s Reebok Stadium and that was a long long time ago.

I really have no idea why some people are getting wound up by this ?

Whether we agree or disagree with it, the lack of Everton branding is to allow us to obtain other uses for the stadium like the euros and World Cup.

‘Newcastle United’ is emblazoned on the top of the stand at St James Park. It will still be used at the Euros. Somehow I doubt having ‘Everton’ written on Everton’s stadium is going to prevent anything else happening there.

£10m per year looks steep against their turnover, but they are highly profitable. Without checking, I think their turnover was £160m but profit was £60m. So if you looked for a non services company with £60m profit I’d imagine their turnover would be significantly higher than £160m.

Think the TO has increased by near 10% year on year for 5 years or so with global expansion taking place, so as others have said, while it outwardly looks high cost, it may well be viewed as a prudent strategic decision aligned with their global expansion goals.

When you go to see Bayern Munich what do you see? All you see is Allianz Arena on the outside of the stadium that is it. There isn’t even a Bayern badge on the outside of the stadium or the words Bayern Munich anywhere on the outside.

Understand. Agree. I, as an old Evertonian so and so, would prefer "New Goodison" or "The People's Stadium" or "The Everton Stadium" or "Dixie Dean Arena", or whatever, etc, etc. But I have to accept that it is all different now, and we have to tag along, indeed push on into the "New Brave World".
