No, no, no...how could 72 be the best when it's...erm...our highest ever points total in the PL?
No, you're right, we should use a different metric...what would you suggest...number of long balls played in a season perhaps?
So 1 point higher than we are? And that’s what you are complaining about? He's ballsed up our season by not buying a decent CF and wasting loads of cash on players who are injury prone or not good enough in the end in his opinion when he he got them here.
That is abundantly clear.
A CF who can find the net on a regular basis has us about 5th now.
I've been saying for two or three seasons that the PL is dreadful. There's a couple of elite teams that can compete in the CL but the rest are easily surpassable. The fact is that we really are about 2/3 months behind schedule just about breaking into the top 10.
If we had been gifted a striker of Lukaku's quality on loan we would probably be second at the moment. At this point in our phenomenal 2013/14 season, we were sitting on 24 points…
Imagine we manage to break our 72 point tally record this season?!
Certain heads might explode! What do you think, Mike?!![]()

It’s all about where you finish, and Moyes had us 4th. Martinez 5th. Points total in any given year isn’t relevant in any other season but the one you’re in at the time. What about the actual league table?
It sounds 100% correct to me and I have been saying it for years. Whoever gets the first goal has a massive bearing on who wins the game. To use the cricket Winviz idea, us conceding first against Spurs and Newcastle probably shifted our chances of winning those games from 50% to 10%. It's why the results of mid table teams are so unpredictable. You can't read too much into games like Spurs and Newcastle. They scored goals from set-pieces/goal keeping errors and those event dictated how the rest of the game panned out. It doesn't mean they are better than us. Next time we play if we get the first goal I could easily see us giving either one of them a footballing lesson.May sound stupid, but for the mid table sides,
The first goal is massive and it’s been massive in Moyes’s career. Last time he was here he hardly won, when we conceded first and hardly lost
When we scored first.
Forest were scoring first nearly every week last season and look how that helped them, though it’s not a long term strategy for success, it’s more a toss of coin approach
Not according to Davek, in his world Liverpool finishing second on 97 points was by far a bigger achievement than any of the times we won the Championship. It’s all about where you finish, and Moyes had us 4th. Martinez 5th. Points total in any given year isn’t relevant in any other season but the one you’re in at the time.
Fact, as a certain Mr Benitez once said.
Currently three points off 4th by the way…
If only we`d have shown up on Saturday against Newcastle we might have been a bit closer. It’s all about where you finish, and Moyes had us 4th. Martinez 5th. Points total in any given year isn’t relevant in any other season but the one you’re in at the time.

In what way did we not show up? We just got beat. It happens. Not everything needs to be a massive drama. If only we`d have shown up on Saturday against Newcastle we might have been a bit closer.
Careful now! Talking sense might make you a target for the Citrus DemonWe talk about Moyes not quite cutting it as a top manager. But think a club can have a very good manager but a poor squad or a good squad with a poor manager, Either way results may not work out.
Sorry mate but Newcastle was shocking, we totally collapsed. This 100%. Been reading through this thread and you put my thoughts perfectly.
I can understand people looking at scorelines and assuming we played awful. I didn't watch the Newcastle game but I said to my Spurs mate after their game and said the scoreline/result massively flattered them. He agreed, it was just one of those days, sounds like Newcastle might have been similar to that.
Moyes has been more attacking than defensive this season, as has been said if we had a Lukaku/Yakubu type finisher up front, we could be looking at an astonishing return at this point in the season.
We're in 9th with a points total that took until Feb to reach the last three seasonsHe's ballsed up our season by not buying a decent CF and wasting loads of cash on players who are injury prone or not good enough in the end in his opinion when he he got them here.
