2025/26 David Moyes

Can’t believe how much we miss Doucoure.

For a mid table addict he sure got us into Europe a fair bit.
My comment wasn't entirely serious - it was a bit of a deliberate exaggeration so apologies if that didn't come through.

But I actually had a look at how much he did get us into Europe. While the league finishes were strong, we only got into Europe 4 seasons out of 11 of his first manager spell, and in two of those we went out in the initial stages - though we did do OK in the other 2 seasons.

Deserves huge credit for that performance, especially at a house of horrors for us, and even more after that wretched display on Saturday.

Everton were well-drilled. Bournemouth struggled to create and sustain any attack. We kept our shape, they ran into dead ends.

we kill him when he gets it wrong so when we play with such discipline as we did today, tip your cap.

I was very happy with the starting line-up, so much more balanced that team.

As was always the case, Moyes often got results when lacking players and being forced to used players more like we all can see.

What we saw last night in terms of performance is what we've seen on lots of occasions when he's been manager: when he's prepared to let the players off the leash this club has always had players who can play a bit.

The trouble is, we all know what comes next: back to the straitjacket in the weeks to come.

Last night was deja vu.

That's obviously true but misses the point. There's a different between a rank bad performance were we can't pass the ball or get out of half and the other team just dominate us and a game were we play well for large parts of it and individual event means the other team get on top. One display indicates a team that will really struggle and one that may well finish top half. Individual results are not a guide to points accumulation. We played pretty much the same way against Villa and Spurs. One game we win a point and come away thinking we had the better of a good team, the other everyone here is despondent. The actual performances were pretty similar

This 100%. Been reading through this thread and you put my thoughts perfectly.

I can understand people looking at scorelines and assuming we played awful. I didn't watch the Newcastle game but I said to my Spurs mate after their game and said the scoreline/result massively flattered them. He agreed, it was just one of those days, sounds like Newcastle might have been similar to that.

Moyes has been more attacking than defensive this season, as has been said if we had a Lukaku/Yakubu type finisher up front, we could be looking at an astonishing return at this point in the season.

Fans have been calling for JOB to CD and Garner to RB and Grealish to be less restricted to his LW position for months.

It's great that the manager finally listened to them in the end.

As @Pabbers alludes to above, he is at his best when he has few options. That's another infuriating characteristic because it means giving him a pile of money might not produce the expected results...but it's very handy when you are short-handed like we are right now.

He's ballsed up our season by not buying a decent CF and wasting loads of cash on players who are injury prone or not good enough in the end in his opinion when he he got them here.

That is abundantly clear.

A CF who can find the net on a regular basis has us about 5th now.

I've been saying for two or three seasons that the PL is dreadful. There's a couple of elite teams that can compete in the CL but the rest are easily surpassable. The fact is that we really are about 2/3 months behind schedule just about breaking into the top 10.

May sound stupid, but for the mid table sides,
The first goal is massive and it’s been massive in Moyes’s career. Last time he was here he hardly won, when we conceded first and hardly lost
When we scored first.

Forest were scoring first nearly every week last season and look how that helped them, though it’s not a long term strategy for success, it’s more a toss of coin approach
