2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

The frustrating thing with the lack of trust and belief Moyes has in him is the different standards Moyes sets for him Vs others.

Maybe a bad night to pick on Grealish with the goal (although not sure it was even going in before the deflection) but as good as he is, he gave away possession poorly multiple times last night. Tried some poor balls behind the defender that were awful and got tackled a few times trying to dribble.

If Alcaraz does anything like that he's viewed as a liability by a section of the fans and Moyes, and his game time is restricted. Whereas Grealish and Ndiaye are allowed to try things that don't always come off as he gives them the chance to show their quality over a long period of minutes.

Moyes has to give Alcaraz more minutes and put trust in him. He brings something positive in an attacking sense almost every game he plays. I think he's a great option to have starting a lot of games and also off the bench. Giving him 10 mins or less is pointless so hope another start for him at the weekend.

Exactly this.

I’m looking forward to seeing him get a run of games, he’s so sloppy at times though. There was a 5 yard pass (to KDH I think) that went out of play and it was a proper head scratcher.

The same as when he was carrying the ball and just forgot to get his body in front of the defender and had it stolen off him.

In his defence it’s easy to forget how young he is actually, the one thing he has which I don’t think you can teach is he plays the game as if it matters.

That goes a long way - especially here.

…..just highlighting your ‘he’s so sloppy at times’.

The Tim Iroegbunam interview is very interesting. Asked what Moyes is like to work with, Iroegbunam says something along the lines of; ‘ he concentrates on what we do in possession and out of possession, he likes us to play but he hates it and goes mad when we give the ball away cheaply’.

I like Alcaraz too, he brings a freshness to the team but you can see why he’s a squad player.

Yeah he just can be careless when passing but the worst for me is how he can’t hide the ball when carrying it.

For someone that wants to do it so often he’s so easy to dispossess.

Reminds me of Barkley when he first came through in that respect, Ross got much better at it.

It’s not at all! The post makes no sense whatsoever, I’ve seen the same poster make other posts which make perfect sense, if they want me to debate a point with them they’ll have to revisit and form coherent sentences so that I know what they mean, otherwise how can I respond? If they have an issue they can tell me, I don’t think they need you to be their white knight.
First of all, I should clarify that English isn't my first language. I accept that I might make syntax or grammar mistakes. But that doesn't mean I don't understand or that I'm not understood, right? That said, going back to Alcaraz, how is he going to improve if he's not playing? Even KDH, who's playing so well now, took several games to adapt. Judging a young player based on just a few minutes is unfair.

Why is Alcaraz viewed more negatively by Moyes and some fans for losing the ball than Dewsbury Hall, Iroegbunam, Grealish and Ndiaye though?

I know 3 of those are names are 3 of our best players but it still seems harsh on Alcaraz that any time he loses it it's jumped on, and any positives always get talked down with his overall performance. But those other names (minus Iroegbunam) do the same and aren't held to the same standards by a section of the fanbase.

Grealish gave it away multiple times yesterday. But rightly so he's allowed to take risks and mess up the odd time due to the brilliance and positive play he provides.

I think we have a potential gem of a player in Alcaraz that can contribute close to what those other 3 do if he's given a good amount of minutes.

Like I said, I didn't understand your post. This one, and most others of yours, I can understand but that one I couldn't and still can't. I'm not calling you out for a spelling error or missing an apostrophe, I'm saying I have no idea what the basis of the post was supposed to be. So in short, yes it meant that you were not understood. Sorry if you find that offensive but I'm not sure what else you want me to say.

I understand the words you're using in this post but I still don't understand the underlying point or the relevance to anything I've said? I'm not judging him off a few minutes and the post you originally replied to was me saying it's not about him being rusty or only playing a few minutes because he was like that last year when he was playing every week. I'm not sure how me basically saying 'I like him but he's a bit sloppy in possession' has turned into some massive issue with weird fanboys acting like i've just pissed on his dog but that's GOT I suppose.

You think Alcaraz is treated more harshly than Iroegbunam by fans?! Have you only supported us since last night?

I mixed 2 points together there. With Iroegbunam I meant more Moyes, whereas all 3 of the others apply to both Moyes and some of our fans.

Moyes has put a lot of trust in Iroegbunam at times this season, especially last night after his performance on Saturday. Which I actually like. Just wish he would do the same with Alcaraz on more occasions.

That's your point of view, I respect it but I don't share it. He was fantastic last year when he had consistent playing time. Even with some mistakes he made thinks that made many fans proud

I think some people are misunderstanding the general point about him giving the ball away. Certainly what i'm talking about, and what I think a few others are referring to, is sloppiness in general play, not that he gives the ball away when trying to do something game changing. There's a risk/reward balance of course, and so him trying to play an inch perfect through ball but not getting it right I have no issue with at all. It's more that sometimes his simple 5 yard passes aren't great, and he makes it too easy to get the ball off him when running with it etc. As I've said a few times since last night, it's not a case of slating him for it, just saying there are things he needs to tidy up and you can see how a manager like Moyes won't appreciate them.
