2025/26 Thierno Barry

You hit the nail on the head. There's no aggression or fight . He's also not a natural finisher.
Not sure on the last one as we’ve barely seen him try!

His attempt last night was the right idea he just reacted too slowly to get there which gave the keeper time to get over.

He lifted it though, if he was onto it a second or so earlier he scores.

Doesn’t help him that Grealish and N’Diaye both want lots of touches rather than playing an early ball in, as his movement in the box is actually alright.

And his link up play is certainly much better, and he is contributing. BUT..

He’s very uncomfortable running with the ball. Isn’t great at attacking crosses given his height, doesn’t have great body strength. And his shooting is.. well actually I have no idea, it’s getting near Xmas and I haven’t seen him strike a ball.

How many more games before we try Beto again?

I think the fact we won will give him another start, but he has to show a flash of something as a footballer. That run just before he was taken off and we had the counter, looked like he was going to outstrip the defender and the defender who was only slight himself just easily nudged him off the ball. He hasn't shown any kind of strength in any one v one situation, doesn't look capable of getting a shot away, looks awful attacking the ball in the air. Far more questions than answers.

Saturday is game 6, if he scored I still wouldn't think he's going to go on a scoring run. Judging by his last 5 starts, I'd say he'll do well to finish on 4-5 goals for the season.

4-5 goals for the season?!

I’d bite your hand off now, if you gave me that as an option, Macca!

We are set up to score across the front 3.

That has brought him time along with poorer alternative.

He has got to chip in soon or EFC surely look to replace and reinforce, next month.

Another performance to give hope. That is all it is though, at this time.
This is it for 99% of the fans then we see his attempt at goal with his shot that the Bournemouth Council will find by a wheelie bin and that hope disappears quickly.

I will say this if DCL was up front for the same time as Barry has been for us, do you think DCL will have the same stats as him?

I think not and yet Leeds think he is rubbish, whilst we all hope this 23 year old kid comes good.
(Bournemouth striker last night 19, different level)

tbf I think DCL went something like 13-14 games straight without scoring. So Barry still has a way to go to hit those kind of stats

….sounds daft for a professional footballer but I don’t think he strikes a football well and he’s not alone in that applying to regulars in our team. It’s such a bonus for a forward to strike a ball sweetly on both sides but he doesn’t have that ability, the near post effort was poor.

It means he’ll probably not be prolific but he could get his quota, decent composure with the ‘dink’ saved by the keeper. Certainly work in progress but definite progress and maybe signs he could be effective. Time will tell.

You can see with players if its just time that's needed, like seeing certain things in their game that will improve.
Getting lots of chances but just not going for him
Final ball just being over hit slightly
Running at defenders and not getting the rub of the green

But this guy, nothing! He is very very lucky to be a pro footballer and to be playing at elite level is insane really.
Is it just me but when im watching him play im saying in my head when he gets the ball (Please don't embarrass yourself)
