January Transfer Window 2026

If we end up spending this January it will be on Ward Prowse (not wanted, too slow/aging, performance has dropped off the cliff) and Robinson (good player but physically finished).

If West Ham and Fulham can get any money for these two they with celebrate. We will happily walk in and overpay for both, and be stuck with them on the payroll for the next 3-4 years.

We should have learnt our lesson by now. But we won’t.

When I played football for my school I was better than a player who was picked ahead of me. I knew the teacher knew this and was picking the other player because he was best friends with the captain of the team. When I came on as sub in those games I didn't bust a gut because I knew no matter what he wouldn't play me next game anyway. When I played for my college team (I did sport and recreation as my course) the teacher watched me training and pulled me aside and told me that I was the best player whilst analysing us and therefore I made it my mission to prove his judgement right. It's amazing what the right motivation can do to the level of a person's performance as we all need confirmation of our self belief

….football is so scientific these days, to think these players are not being psychologically assessed and managed is a nonsense. Everton will employ top psychologists and the players themselves might even use their own (as in other sports), I’d be sure these young players are being well managed in that respect.

How they are being managed could be exactly what they need but ultimately they have to perform.

Different times, but I played for the RS for 3 years and I honestly don’t remember a one-on-one with a coach during my time. The old boot room psychology was to want players who were mentally tough, who were winners and wanted to play. Clearly different today but I suppose it worked for them.

Ohh Moyes will definitely know how the likes of Dibling and Aznou are feeling but a managers interest especially one like Moyes who's all about the here and now won't really care as he's in it for short term results as he's already alluded too

But that's the Moyes paradox too - "the here and now" results won't change if you're using McNeil who's been turd for 5 months.

Very true. McNeil will most likely be leaving within a season or so whilst Dibling you'd hope will have a long career with us. I didn't mind McNeil coming on ahead of Dibling for the Man Utd match as he's more reliable in a tactical way when you're holding on to a lead with 10 men but Dibling should be ahead of McNeil in circumstances where we're either winning comfortably or if we need to chase a goal

Wouldn't even say McNeil was good for the United game - he was abysmal there too and we desperately needed energy. Unless Moyes was worried Dibling would two foot tackle someone recklessly, the discipline needed was "early academy" at best.

You can kind of understand it in the case of Aznou if his physicality isnt quite there. The behind the scenes motivation to play wont be 'as' important perhaps compared to gym work etc

Alcaraz knows that no matter what he does he'll be used out of position at best when a non-10 is being shoe-horned in there to the teams detriment. He must be furious.

Dibling we dont know the details but he did nothing less than Ndiaye or Grealish would have likely done in his cameo last game. He must be wondering what hes done.

When he moved to Chelsea some say he had home sickness but he was quoted as saying he didnt think the environment within the youth structure suited his development & due to the way the deal was done it took ages to be approved by the FA so he hadnt been able to play much.

Now hes not playing at all really. Top 19 year old talent already had a league season but cant get subbed on after 70mins each game when Ndiaye is knackered?

Could even be playing 10 with KDH further back.

I forgot about the mismanagement of Alcaraz too so that's a good point Zat. Yeah I wonder what Dibling is thinking right now and whether he's regretting moving to us. I find the fans criticism of him perplexing as he's not even had a proper chance to be judged. The only way we'll ever get to the top is with a long term plan with youth talent as we're not going to be buying the top tier players who all want to play in the farce known as the European Cash Grab League

Paddy the Baddy Boyland suggesting only a striker reading in between the lines.

LB no as Branthwaite can cover apparently (hahaha) and RB they would want but doesn't look like that will happen.

Defensive Midfielder you say? Nope they're praying they won't have to recall Armstrong but if we are thin on the ground they will do in January.

Standard January window for the Toffee Blues incoming.

The city is home to one of the worlds leading schools of tropical medicine with some of the top experts in various fields. Both clubs would be mad not too make use of it imo.

Why do we need players for right now?

Obviously, some want to see the club splashing out this season on players who can deliver today.

But what are they delivering? A few places up the league - fine but to what end?

This is why we need players NOW

December and January could make it break a season. We could hit a rough patch and drop 3 places OR we grind out 4/5 wins and sit on the cusp of 5th

The facts are - we don't score enough goals, we don't create enough chances and we are open to pace.

So we take Gueye and Ndiaye out of this squad in the middle of December, we lose attacking threat and the one player who seems to tackle in midfield.

Our squad HAS to be improved
