2025/26 David Moyes

Good to see two of our managers in the top 3 with Dyche with the top spot in his sights if he carries on at his current rate .

If he does reach the top spot … I’m not sure I will be impressed more than .

Achieving top spot or

Managing to get employment as a prem manager while playing eye AIDS football and losing half your games …

To keep getting employment in that scenario is an achievement in itself

So happy to take the plaudits when we win and make excuses for defeats. Seen a fan earlier today say, I can hear him putting up that glass ceiling and that’s exactly what Moyes does. Makes it look like he’s doing a good job and punching above his weight. May have worked With kenwright won’t wash with TFG
If I recall he gave the players far more of the plaudits for the utd win
Did he enjoy it, was he cheerful about it? Yes. Of course

In the cold light of today after a terrible loss have you not once thought Newcastle are a very good side when they turn it on?

Also the early goal was an absolute gift for an away team with what is usually a good defence (recent Pope howlers not included) with fast wingers.

We have a first choice striker that hasn't scored yet and it's December. What exactly are you expecting? Newcastle have much better players than us. They had Gordon and Tonali on the bench FFS.
Well your boy Tim was in midfield so was expecting a top performance. Brentford and West Ham had just beat them comfortably, so I was expecting a good result, not a 4-1 demolition

Got tired of listening to his interviews about.....18yrs ago, but in fairness I do recall reading most of his comments were about the players after the Man U win

Personally I'm not surprised at a bad loss as we are not a great side and will have those games, but with that one comment, as with the cup loss he has basically said "hey guys, remember all those things you were sick to the back teeth of last time around?! Here ya go! "

Grrrr, fresh start soon please

Yea I get it, and he's scrutinised more because of his first stint. The cup one both surprised and annoyed me, because he knows that's a priority for the fans. Pretending to be a top club that rests players in cups while also saying(accurately) that we aren't a top club at the moment is a contradiction that winds me up.
Hopefully he plays our 1st team in the next cup and no nonsense.
We're still far better off than we were under our last three managers and I'm enjoying the respite when alls been said and done

Mid table or not, we’re miles bigger than palace, Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford and always will be , so it’s not some toss of a coin decision like you seem to think, You’re talking like we’re Sheffield Wednesday or Huddersfield that were big 50yrs and are now championship level
Yeah I'm sure the likes of Ireola and Frank and Glasner and Hurzeler all care that around the time of their birth we once beat Bayern Munich. It's probably why they got into football, I'm absolutely certain. Probably had posters of Dave Watson on their walls in 95, every single one of them.

We've done NOTHING for 30 years (other than cling on to the 80s for dear life). EVERY fan base thinks their club is a "big club". Are they all correct?? In modern football you're only as good as the here-and-now, and we've been relegation fodder for years - let alone listing the Championship clubs who have won more trophies than us in the last THIRTY years (I know I know: insert screeching here about "but but new owners, something something new stadium" as if it somehow makes us unique or magically special than every other team - heaven forbid we actually have to earn it on the pitch).

I'm not suggesting we're on the level of Shef Wed or Hudd but if you want to think and/or honestly believe the managers of these clubs will be desperate to swap one mid-table Prem outfit for another --sorry, come to the mighty Everton because "We ArE a BiG cLuB" because 40 years ago we won a few bits-- instead of go to a ready made UCL club if they have the chance, then you have at it. I'd be delighted to be proven wrong but I'll wager it wont happen.

Does the fact they beat City not feature in the thinking? Yes at home, but we also lost 0-3 to Spurs at home and they've been leaking goals for fun. Fact is Newcastle are good when they turn it on and they are very good when gifted a goal in 50 seconds

I'm thankful for the respite too, but not exactly enjoying it as I just don't like the guy.

And yes he was always going to be scrutinised more because we have seen so much of him. He was always going to have to work hard to get the majority of fans really behind him, whilst only having to slip up a little bit to get a good portion of the fans thinking of all his weak points last time around. I personally don't blame the fans for that, I think it is fair to have a strong opinion on a manager you've seen 12 seasons of, and understandable to not have much patience for him when it goes wrong.

I don't think anybody who wasn't happy at the dumb cup exit has forgotten it at all. I was pleasantly surprised by the Man U game, enough to start to think he might actually do something different....but it didn't stop me wanting to kick him in the balls for throwing the league cup game.

Even if somebody is happy to have Moyes here you can still be honest and recognise that specific comment about Newcastle needing an off night was very very Moyes and is of course going to wind up fans who have heard that kind of thing multiple times over many seasons with him. I am sure a common reaction was I cannot believe he has actually said that, as its like directly poking at a wound.

Instead I'm reading comments saying posters are wound up because we expect Europe or aren't happy that he said Newcastle are better than us. It's all very silly
FWIW I competely agree with the bit about a large part of the fan base feeling wound up by the comment (and FWIW I'm inclined to agree with them to some degree), I just dont think it was that major a thing overall. I thought the response to meekly and timidly going out the League Cup with a surrending whimper -and then doubling down on it a few days later when he could have said "yeah we should have done better" or "might have got that wrong"- was beyond unfathomable, worthy of seething, and a major wipe out of all the good credit he built.

All that said and done, if we beat B'mouth midweek and we're 8th-ish ahead of the December run, I don't think there will be tooooo many grumbles. In fact, the narrative will probably be "new era Everton" because we've finally beaten our bogey team just like it was when we won at Old Trafford. Wasn't a great comment by Moyes, but very much storm-in-a-tea-cup for me.

Villa have not won a FA cup since the 50’s. 1 league title in 110 years. Had Only been out the championship 2 years and went and got Emery from a champions league team in Spain . That should be the end of the chat mate. If you have ambition and the right people running the club, you can go and get a top top manager.

That gave me a chuckle!
You're also spot on. All those managers know more about our strengths and weaknesses as a team as well as our recent troubles than any of our past glories. They don't care, and it doesn't affect how they set up against us or if they would be interested in managing us

We got Carlo when untested Arteta was available. How did that work out in the scheme of things?
Difference is Villa backed Emery with a few quid at the same time and he is one of the highest paid managers in the league.
We have just come away from points deductions and ffp trouble.

Maybe when the finances settle we can go hunting because they will want backing. To add to the other point though, Emery didn't go to Villa because of their history, he went because of the money and the draw of the PL, which for the most part these days is money

We can change the manager every season but it won't make a difference until we get the recruitment right. We messed up in the summer by not bringing in a ready to go RB and LB. The lack of attacking threat from Mykolenko & O'Brien is killing the team.

Both Spurs and Newcastle doubled up on our wingers and we become so easy to play against. We are essentially having to give the ball to Grealish and Ndiaye and hope they do something spectacular on their own.
This.

Dyche is 2nd all time in lost games % after Pardew from that list.
