2025/26 Thierno Barry

We spend £50 million on Barry and Beto but people draw the line at picking up Callum Wilson on a free.

BTW he’s been in the West Ham squad for Every game so far this season, and scored 4 goals.
I wasn't knocking the player, just providing a little insight into what his contract situation might be. I'm actually a fan of Wilson when he's fit; very sharp No9 who gets goals. But given how the club has typically moved for younger players in the summer, no way could I see him being on the club's shopping list.

No thr real problem is a lack of pace , in the team and the lack of balls in the box for forwards to attack. Prime Ronaldo would struggle , with our snail like build up play

We've said this about our strikers a lot down the years. Yes, the team is poor at attacking and that's largely down to the full backs, but our strikers are too easy to play against as well.

We slide the ball into Barry's feet or even get him in behind and he never really looks like scoring. This helps the opposition play on the front foot so much more safe in the fact they aren't going to get turned by a decent centre forward.

He cost the best part of £30m and gave up playing in the CL to come here, of course he was supposed to play.
I agree the intent was for him to play , I do believe that Moyes and the recruitment felt that he'd have more time to acclimate to the league through featuring in more of a support role. Since Beto has had minimal impact so far this season it's heaped a lot more pressure on Barry to deliver right away which I don't think Moyes anticipated him to be the primary striker this early.

I think it was pretty clear last year Moyes wasn’t convinced by Beto and he slated him in pre season too so I genuinely don’t think that’s the case.

Barry started against Roma and the first home game against Brighton. I think that indicates they thought he'd be the main man. Whatever they thought hasn't worked out any way. Into December our strikers have a grand total of 2 goals.

True but Callum Wilson is still a terrible shout

Been available for every game this season and has 4 Prem goals. Was on a free. So if it’s such an extraordinary bad shout, you should be able to give me a list of say 10 better options we could have feasibly brought in to be a 3rd striker for not much money.. go..

He's no super Denis Straq pal so don't play premier league scout. Also fair point

Thought he was ok the team is far to slow not enough players getting into the box. Even crossing the ball into the box taking far to many touches, agree that we need a better starting cf. but still think we have a player with him just need time

Roma you mean a friendly?, it appears that Beto was supposed to be the main striker but he was anonymous at Leeds so Barry got an opportunity. That's just my interpretation. Other options need to be introduced, I also feel it's how we setup with our attack that would make it difficult for any striker to be successful. We looked so much more of threat when Garner was at right back during the Fulham match

Callum Wilson has been fit this season but he was also sidelined for a total of 29 games during the previous one for two separate injuries. So it's understandable to be a little apprehensive about signing him despite his decent form. As you know everton hasn't had the best luck with injury prone players , people are already losing their mind about rohle
