2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

This club needs to spend the next 2 years making decisions with zero focus on results. A club at our place in the league gets nothing from chasing them. Whether we win or lose a match should have no bearing on the players or the manager right now. It’s are the players improving and is the team overall improving. Monday was neither even though we won, today was neither when we got embarrassed. Neither game helped this club move forward.
Bizarre take, are you American by any chance?

To be clear I’m not saying don’t try to win every week. But the decision making with players, management, signings, tactics etc cannot be results based.
😂😂😂, when did you start watching football? Have you been to the game often at all?

That’s pretty much the antithesis of every season ticket holders opinion in the ground, and I’ve been one nearly two decades now.

I like the idealism but it’s detached totally from football reality.

It's not football manager
How would you measure improvement if results are ignored?

This idealism won Palace the FA Cup and took teams like Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford to their best ever finishes.

I truly believe season ticket holders can get behind a club that takes a viewpoint that a slightly slower build up to a real payoff is the way to go about this.

I mean there are both statistical ways to look at this with chance creation, pressure, ball retention, control of territory, etc. or the much simpler did we play better than the opponent today? I know that’s a bit of a moving target, but I think everyone knows sometimes the result in a game doesn’t reflect who played better for longer stretches.

You're looking for him to come on and do something that says he should start next game. It's disappointing he never because it really wouldn't have taken much.

He certainly shouldnt be starting in a midfield 2 thats for sure and in addition to LW and RW or the bench...nothing will get him into a starting position unless hes given a fair chance on the right of a midfield 3 or as a 10.

Im a fan but theres no way id use him in any of those other roles.

Last time he did this he was dropped. He was not starting next week regardless of what he did.

Do you mean Palace? If so, he definitely did start the next game. As I said in previous posts, other people such as yourself really think we're depriving the team by keeping Alcaraz on the bench - I just don't see it.

True, because Grealish wasn’t eligible. I don’t trust he would have and he still had to be shifted out of position. Hasn’t started since then correct?

What we’re depriving ourselves of is figuring out what he can be. The answer might not be much. But we have to know the answer.

Either gets 5 minutes or thrown on when we're losing.

He did exactly that against Palace. His reward was to be chucked out wide away to City and then benched. His game time is so limited its very difficult for him to do much. 290 minutes game time this season is less than tim iroegbanums.
