2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

I think Bournemouth away will suit him as they'll come out and attack and leave space when they lose the ball.

I'd like to think Moyes subbing him on for Tim at half time was to give him enough time to get up to speed.

You don't always have to play KDH as AM, I'm sure he can do a job for a few games as disciplined 8 before Gana returns for Chelsea away and Alcaraz can offer similar goal threat.

He’s alright, can we put the top quality shouts to bed yet? Passenger when we haven’t got the ball.

Do you realise he was out of position again, like a number of our players today.

Runs around a lot, but we lose so much shape when he's in the team.

Then use him as a 10 and not a CM in a 2 which suits no one.

It’s why he doesn’t play over KDH.

Theyre being used in different positions.

Lost today, KDH was ineffective bar the wondergoal. Used as a 10.

Unlucky not to score. But also, the system wasn’t working at all and it needed more than a like for like sub so he just continued in the same vein of the midfield being static and getting bypassed by a Newcastle midfield that actually moved.

Looked gassed after 30 mins though which was a concern. Think it was the break when Grealish was on the ball and just had no support. Charly was way back and looked spent.

It seems like Moyes using him at LW, RW and now CM in a 2 is trying to use him everywhere but the positions where he has saved his bacon before.

Utterly exhausting to see.

I think it's pretty obvious that Alcaraz isn't a superstar waiting in the wings. A decent option to have in the squad and that's about it.

I dont think hes a superstar.

What he is, is a 10 or a RCM in a 3.

He's got the ability to conjure something from nothing and the xfactor to try it consistently while others would be too afraid to lose the ball, he'll try something.

I like having someone who can try something 3 or 4 times and when it comes off we have a goal.

I like someone who has done well when used as a 10 and has made Beto look much better.

You never know, with consistent games as a 10 he may actually develop and improve his game.

He’s a decent player but you’ve been OTT about him since we signed him.

Lots to like; plays the game like it matters, hits a heavy ball, like you say he’s not scared to try things.

He is though a real concern when we don’t have the ball, zero intelligence in the way he plays and looks positionally inept.

I think there were a couple of times he tried to press with a teammate but shut down the same lane they had already done, allowing their player to just turn out into the gap. I remember N’Diaye distinctly looking confused how Hall had got out.

I think he can definitely give us something different. Unfortunately I think a lot of the time his ability doesn't quite match up with what he is trying to do.
