2025/26 Seamus Coleman

You might as well add the Toffee Lady to your list. Synonymous with Everton, embodies our values, special. Won nothing either.

I don't have an issue with Seamus being revered as a symbol of his era and of the club in that era. The issue is it was a crap era, a gaslighting era where the fans were manipulated and Coleman was a cipher of that manipulation. Seamus is also now of the past. We need to move on. Dewsbury-Hall spoke more sense the other night than Seamus has in years. His time is up. Get him off the stage before he's getting pelters. Nobody needs that.
Agree with your last sentence 👍

Let him retire on a good note before any 'haters' try and crash it.

What connection does Coleman have to a Scottish club that he’s never played for?

We should play the Ireland national team, at least then he’d drag himself out of bed to play in it.
Irish and Scots have cultural links don't they and you'll find a lot of the Irish will support one or the other of the Old Firm

Ha Ha Ha.

FFS, I've got to hear the reasoning behind this...

Has no one ever been sent off when he is on the pitch or something?

it’s a one off incident. Coleman has barely played for the last 3 years and it’s not happened in any of those non appearances until now.

Also, we can’t have him on the pitch if he is injured. Should we have just left him on unable to move?
For some posters Coleman has become a mystical, almost God-like, figure that changes the metaphysical reality of the world around them. It's weird.

He's been a wonderful servant to the club but his body hasn't been up to the rigours of top flight football for years now. Just make him a coach. If he wants to play on, then fair enough, that's up to him, let him know he's welcome back whenever he hangs up his (aircast) boots. Please don't give him another playing contract for next year, Everton.

….gutted for him breaking down so early in the game. He must have been desperate to have made that start and you could see how distraught he was going off. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was 2 grown men in tears in that dressing room after 20mins.

He’s a terrific man is Seamus Coleman and the decision to extend his contract is fully justified given what players say about his influence. Dangerous to write him off but football at this level is physically demanding and unforgiving.

Celebrate him whilst we can.

Nonsense this. But people lap it up.

Countless aye?

In no world has his extension been justified. Relegated to little more than a cheerleader role, which he could have done in a coaching role if need be.
So what overall?

Why does it trouble certain people that a player who's handed an enormous amount of value to a club that paid next to f.a. for him is getting his wages paid for being a squad player who hardly gets used?

That feller will have given way way more to this club than he'll ever take out.

It's unreal criticism.

"60 grand 60 grand Seamus Coleman..hold on, you're still getting paid? WTF?!"

Laughable.
