2025/26 Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Are you saying that because it’s different or because the result was different so you’re assuming we had to make a change?

Because it was different.

Last two games has been a player in front of the back 4 with two midfielders ahead of him. Against United when we had 11 this was Garner sitting with KDH and Gueye ahead of him.

Previous games it’s been a double pivot with Garner and Gana sitting deeper and KDH centrally behind the striker, sometimes sitting left yes, playing number 10.

Moyes has effectively turned the midfield triangle around in the last two games.

KDH has definitely dropped a bit deeper the last couple of games. He is still more advanced than the other midfielders, but its closer to a 4-3-3 now than 4-2-3-1 imo.

Here is Fulham (I'm skipping United because ten men isn't reflective):

Nothing has really changed in a significant way. You can argue maybe we've just been playing 4-3-3 the whole time. But this idea that Moyes has changed things and found something is wrong. We've just won a couple of games because that's how football works. Sometimes it is your day and sometimes it isn't.

Except the key difference is that v Fulham Gana is level with KDH with Iroegbunam behind them. In all the other games KDH is ahead of the other two midfielders. It may only be minor but it changes everything when it comes to which areas of the pitch the players therefore press run and pick up the ball. Even in the Fulham game you can see the difference in terms of KDH not receiving the ball from Gana, instead he’s getting it directly from Keane. Small changes but a big difference in how the team operates.

Not going to post more of these but he got it off the CBs a little against Spurs too and that was a disaster. Some of that is about how much settled possession we can actually have. I just don't see it as being structurally different yet. No two games are going to be exactly the same, but I truly believe we're trying to do the same things in midfield.

This is probably a Moyes discussion btw, I don't think KDH is doing anything he shouldn't at least in this respect.

Love the thought of that midfield
Think most fans have wanted see a three in the mid and with the acon is something we was going to have to try at some point. Now gives tim a massive chance now 3 games to start in and grab that starting postion. Was unlucky to loose his place after the fulham game
