He's old, that worries me.
But if we can get another 3 good seasons out of him then, well, I'd have to agree. Take it on the chin -- we'll soon forget about the financial one-up for Spuds when he's back, ripping teams into shreds week in, week out.
He'll still be good well into his 30s, and even if he only gives us three great years that could be the difference between Europe three seasons in a row.
Only just saw the interview. I teared up myself when he said "I didn't get to say goodbye last time..." Not that he wanted to say goodbye last time, but you can really tell he knows how badly he f**ked up.
One thing that might keep the price down is Pienaar telling Spurs he wants to go. Spurs put him on the market for £11m. Clubs similar to Spurs come in for him. Peanuts rejects them all until Spurs finally have to accept an Everton offer of £6m.
It seems likely that, if this is done, it will drag on over the summer and possibly even into the first few games of the season.
Dempsey will be too expensive. Get Donovan in along with Pienaar and we'll be looking at challenging for 4th place.
The opposite is probably true. Spurs desperately need him off the wage bill to try and fund the wages of Adebayor and Modric, among others.
