The Ashes 2025

I've just watched the dismissals and the top order kept chasing wide balls on a pitch with bounce. I've no idea what Crawley was doing either - just chipping it back at the bowler.

My main criticism of the Mccullum Stokes team is that they aren't ruthless or patient enough to capitalise when they are on top in the game. A leas of a hundred for only 1 down and then a collapse with big drives against wide deliveries. This was a day to bat time, get a good lead, and let the bowlers rest. The wicket isn't that bad.
They're just not the greatest technical batsmen, everyone knows this, this is why they go out playing "bazball" to knock themselves quickly into winning positions. What you want to happen requires better than what England has unfortunately.

Root certainly has the ability and the technique to bat time and that was not a good shot at all.

There are just shots that are not high percentage options on these wickets. Big drives off wide length balls is a bad option. It doesn't take the best batsmen of all time to be more careful with wider deliveries.

The bowlers need rest and this level of batting doesn't give them a chance.

Cool, you've got one player who can't mentally bat in Australia.

They're high percentage options for good test batsmen.

You're like the davek of cricket threads.
I think this Australia team are very beatable but there needs to be an acceptance by England that they need to bat more time. 70 overs in the match is just not good enough. And this isn't even close to the best bowling they will face in the series.

I dont think it's unreasonable to be critical of the way they have thrown wickets away.

Literally nobody has denied this.

It’s just about batting better isn’t it.

Batting more sensibly but also playing your shots better.

Look at what the Aussies are doing now. Playing their shots with ease and ticking over at nearly six an over.

Would have been a good idea to get more proper cricket in before the series.

Whilst we were playing one day series’s that mean nothing the Aussies were away playing Sheffield sheild.

Helps that Travis Head is the second best batsman in these lineups.
