Today’s Football 25/26 Season

Turning into a bit of a penis that Bellingham.

Storm in a teacup cooked up by the English journos. As a young black man with talent he's next in the sights. Any transgression from colonial norms of good manners and it will get written up from now on, you watch

This came from a question asked by a journo about him not celebrating the second goal with Kane when in actual fact Jude went straight to Rashford (which I think is good leadership)

He displayed a tiny bit of displeasure about being brought off, but it was a minor grump (and what good players do like being subbed off?)

I fear we will hound out one of our most generational talents in advance of this world cup

It doesn't matter what colour his skin is - the new manager doesn't like his behaviour and that isn't a good sign.

And neither do the press pack, more importantly - who will keep asking questions to the manager and then spinning his answers so that it looks like he does have an issue with him. If you try and tell me that his skin colour doesn't matter to the British press, well, you're miles off it

I watched the press conference, most of the quotes and clips have been taken hugely out of context based on a question that was asked of Tuchel that was both factually incorrect and that then exaggerated his response to being subbed off in the first place. Tuchel's answer was essentially: I didn't know that he didn't celebrate and neither did I know that he had a strop but if those things happened then that's obviously a problem.

When he did celebrate and he hardly stropped at all

You wouldn't know that based on today's headlines though

Think they're making the Autumn international breaks into one big one next year if I remember right. 3 weeks in September.
So, if they get their heads out of their backsides, they'll schedule it all in August and we can have the season start proper in September and all feel like we've finally taken a step back towards a sport we used to know and enjoy.

Lethal that Kane

What an absolute load of pure 100% bollocks.

Oh yeah, because the English press are famously fair to people of colour
I'm sure your intensions are good mate but you need to stop playing the self proclaimed great white saviour, you do more harm than good.

“White Saviour Industrial Complex” – a term first coined by Harvard professor and novelist Teju Cole in 2012. “White Saviour Industrial Complex is not about justice, it’s about having a big emotional experience that validates privilege…

Why are you making this personal? You don't know me

I hate the white saviour industrial complex and am very aware of it, thanks very much. But I'm not reporting someone to HR on behalf of a black colleague

As the media narrative builds around Jude being a problem player, I don't think referencing the institutional racism of the British press is even close to white saviouritism. Just helps to explain what in my opinion is an exaggeration of or overfocus on a behaviour that is common amongst all top level players.

If you feel personally affronted by that then maybe it says more about you than the press?

It was easier to suggest the media have their new Raheem Sterling. :/
I remember Grealish being subbed off in an England game and being visibly frustrated, but the narrative around that either didn't exist or was that he simply "wants to do best for his country".

First question in the presser after a 2-0 win yesterday was

Journo: In the 84th minute when you subbed off Jude, he protested against it.
Tuchel: he protested against it?
Journo: He didn't seem happy at all, his arms were raised and he gestured towards the touchline.
Tuchel: <looking slightly bemused> That's the decision and he has to accept it, respect it and move on
Journo: Everything you've spoken about in terms of behaviour and conduct... that seemed to fly in the face of that, especially as your team was celebrating a goal at the time
Tuchel: I didn't see it that way but then I have to review it. I saw that he wasn't happy but I don't want to make a big deal of it. But if you have certain players who are so competitive this is normal

Reading the headlines this morning you'd have thought that Tuchel was proper annoyed.

So who is it who really finds Jude's behaviour to be problematic?

British press are toxic, honestly, trying to sow division in run up to World Cup and shock it's Jude
