Today’s Football 25/26 Season

Anyone else sick and tired of these international breaks?
Never had less confidence in the German national team, they are a bunch of mental midgets. Hurts to see the likes of Sané, Gnabry and Goretzka getting selected time and time again
I'm Irish living in Germany. I've been tired of international breaks for over 20 years. Strangely, this weekend's one has been surprisingly rejuvenating for some reason...

However, in general, I agree with you. For the giants like Germany or England, qualifiers are really a massive chore. Inevitably, you will qualify. There is almost no jeopardly unless you are going through a historic crisis, like Italy. For the relative minnows, like Ireland, qualifiers are also a massive chore unless we are going through one of our periodic peaks when we can bloody the noses of giants, like Germany and England, which we've done in the past. If we're not, it's a slog to inevitable elimination and the odd humiliation (like losing in Armenia).

My other half is German. My son is half-German. West Germany was my team of choice as a child. I have always loved German football as it possesses - at its best - the ultimate blend of technical excellence and mental bloody-mindedness. If German football was a snooker player, it would be Mark Selby, often despised, always feared.

However, this current German generation is a disgrace. They have mislaid everything that made them great and now prize ineffective but flashy show ponies over effectiveness. Leroy Sane coming back proves Nagelsmann is a chancer.

You'll probably do enough to qualify tonight against an honest Slovakian side, but it's defintely set up for a shock. More likely, Germany will struggle through, maybe win 2-0, and everyone will pretend they are contenders next year. Joshua Kimmich will advertise everything.

I'm afraid, Germany will be gone as soon as they face the first decent side next year.

but just to follow up, you see how the irish lads celebrated getting that winner the other night, they will still be looking for their phones this morning i think, when was the last time the English team celebrated remotely close to what we saw there, i am not trying to drive division or be edgy on hating english footy, it just shows how much passion lies in desire. On the other hand we see Jude pissing his knickers over being subbed. Reasons to hate international footy 101.

You should have heard the noise in my house when that last goal went in, I have 2 lads a 9 year old and a 7 year old, theyve never experienced anything like that, I can only hope that Ireland are at the begining of a period of getting into major compitetions, Like I experienced when I was growing up, Nothing I've seen in sport compares to the 90's and Ireland doing well.

Think they're making the Autumn international breaks into one big one next year if I remember right. 3 weeks in September.
