Today’s Football 25/26 Season

Graham Potter’s Sweden took a 4-1 pounding, won’t be long till he is toast
They had injuries and had a makeshift starting XI tbf. Plus, Sweden with the bizarre rules that exist will qualify for playoffs due to Nations League, meaning Potter has time to get more out of what Jon Dahl could

Switzerland has qualified for WC rendering the last match vs Kosovo (runners up) relatively unimportant. After Embolo scored, Sweden pressed higher and left big gaps behind in midfield and leveled too easily while Suisse was unable to effectively play out from the back

2nd half, deadlock broken when Embolo forced the keeper into a penalty and eventually the route was on - Manzambi a spark plug, again

Went to the Emirates today to watch Brazil v Senegal

Stand out players

Senegal
- Niakahte: solid in defence all game
- Gueye (our one): say no more

Brazil:
- Rodyrgo: played in the ten, movement, first touch, serious player
- Militao: dominated at right back and then centre half, surprisingly astute on the ball

But honestly?

It was a pleasure to watch Casemiro today. Seen him a few times in the flesh and been really impressed each time. Reads the game impeccably, great physical presence in the air and making tackles... but so much skill on the ball for a number 6, so many little 5 yard passes in the middle of the pitch to break the game open, little flicks and round the corner one-twos, always a step ahead

Ran the game

Correct deduction, it doesn’t take much of an excuse for a Wales Away party, but tonight’s performance only just scrapes over the line.

Not a huge rugby fan nowadays. WRU have wrecked the game in Wales. I leave it to the daffodil headgear wearing divs.
Not an egg chaser myself, never played it although my neighbouring friends when I was at school went to rugger establishments - Blackrock, CBC Monkstown, Marian, St Michael's while my school Oatlands played soccer and GAA only.

Nevertheless, happy to see Ireland hammer the Aussies. 😊

It was a good match. Well done, mate!

:p

I'll be absolutely shocked if Ireland manage to put two consecutive displays together and beat Hungary today.
You won't be shocked. It just won't happen. The players just aren't good enough. One-offs can happen in football, but twice in a row when the chips are down? Not a chance.

2 or 3-nil to Hungary tonight and a lot of slightly silly looking media cheerleaders wondering why they lost the run of themselves from Thursday night.
