New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

It’s nothing to with being Irish mate, as I say it’s not even my favourite stadium in Dublin or the biggest fir that matter, I’m actually on record on here as being critical of how it was built and it’s impact. But it’s a beautiful piece of architecture and a lovely ground, facilities are top as well.

I’ve been to SJP and Villa Park - it’s far far superior stadium to both tbh, lightyears, so I wouldn’t stress.

As I say it’s not even the biggest stadium in Dublin……it will be fine for an event like the Euros.

I think it’s already hosted the UEFA Cup Final - but I might be making that up.

You are not. It has hosted two. I was at Porto v Boavista in 2011. Should have been Benfica and Porto who UB would have been amazing but a bit of a let down.

Lookman got motm in 2024 when Leverkusen hammered by Atalanta. The stadium was very well received by the fans.

I can understand the argument based on stadiums but there was no way two other hosts were not getting quarterfinals with both semis and final in Wembley. Like zero chance!

I don’t think there’s anything between them to be honest, I’ve been to them all except Spurs.

The Millennium stadium i think is prob pound for pound the best UK stadium in my opinion, is better then Wembley, I’d rather watch a match in Hampden then modern Wembley ( old Wembley was great) but new Wembley has better facilities, maybe I’ve been unlucky to be there when the atmosphere has been bit flat, it’s an impressive facility, but felt like a facility.

The Millennium stadium is better than Bramley Moore. Wembley, I don’t really like since the Revamp it’s a bit of. Soulless bowl - so I prefer BMD being more intimate.

BMD has way better facilities than Hampden, but Hampden has that old school charm - it’s an old school international arena and you feel that as opposed to a Purpose built club ground, so it’s a coin toss. Not much between the Aviva and BMD to be honest, you point out the smaller stand, but the other 3 sides are on a bigger scale obviously to BMD - they have to be for the same capacity.

Not much between them to be honest, so I can see how Uefa went how they did. Where the Aviva and Hampden are in Dublin and Glasgow are better situated in their City’s to hold an international event like this then BMD is in Liverpool as City’s, so I get it.

If I had to liken BMD to a stadium in the UK and I’ve been to almost all of them, football and rugby, it would be Parkhead they are actually fairly similar bar, Celtic still have an old stand- while BMD obviously has more modern facilities etc.

Villa park shouldn’t be included tbh,while SJP is a bit ahead of it.

Doesn’t really tell the whole story of the ground mate, architecturally it’s beautiful and design unique, slap bang in the City Centre.

The location of the Aviva is great and it`s a very unique and eye catching building too, but I always hated the way the roof is when you`re sat in the upper tier where the metal work can come down into your view when sitting in the higher rows of seats. I like the way that one end is different from the other 3 sides as it would look from the inside as just another clone from the Arsenal/Benfica/Sporting stadium design, but had the land been available that would have been what we`d have ended up with.

The Echo are apparently running a story from an hour ago that the reason The Hole Punch Stadium wasn't considered for the Euros, like it isn't for any other major tournament, is because the pitch is too small.

Please no one tell UEFA that our pitch doesn't fit in our stadium.

In other news, Everton Football Club have hosted World Cup Final matches featuring some of the greats of world football and are set to showcase their magnificent new stadium at Euro 2028 while Anfield can at least boast it has hosted Taylor Swift and The Foo Fighters.

IIRC after Euro 96 when Anfield hosted games there was s general feeling at UEFA that foreign fans would be murdered there. That's the (un)official reason they haven't hosted a tournament game since.

It is just a diplomatic move. Each of the host countries having a quarter final each. Fair I suppose.

Spurs would have gotten both QFs before us, if it came to a direct choice like that.

The four host countries get a game each in the quarters, so how good the stadium is doesn't come into it.
