2025/26 Dwight McNeil

I have a feeling he will come back this season. Has been our best player before we got ndiaye in term of numbers (goals/assists), and was crucial to our survival in the pl...the only thing is moyes has to realise that he can only play on the left or at a push behind the striker, never on the right. He is easily worth 20 millions because of his age, years of experience in the pl, and has been crucial before. Yes he is not in great form right now, but thats football...look at keane...our best cb today by some distance.
He’d had more bad games than good, goal return is ok, but nothing special. He got assists because he took every set piece for a manager who sets up for set pieces. Lets see which clubs are interested in him come January, I’d imagine they will be drop off from Everton

Not sure why people keep saying this tbh. Dyche has NEVER signed McNeil.
Didn't he buy him at Burnley?

I don't know what Coventry's financial situation is, but I'd say there's more chance of McNeil linking up with Lampard again. Maybe a loan with an obligation to buy if they're promoted would make sense.

Will also give him a chance to impress Tuchel with a run of games under Lampard

He joined Burnley as a 14 year old kid, was nothing to do with Dyche.

My big concern is AFCON and Ndiaye going mean that we may see this guy RW for many games....

Arsenal (H)
Burnley (A)
Forest (A)
Brentford (H)
Wolves (H)
Villa (A)

This would be disastrous.

Wonder if one of the promotion hopefuls in the championship would come in for him mid season. He will surely want to play rather than sit on the bench and we’d probably appreciate the money if we could get a replacement.

…..anything compared to Ndiaye will be a downgrade. The McNeil of previous seasons could ‘do a job’ but he’s been awful which leaves Dibling and his continued absence doesn’t suggest he’s near being the answer.

I’m sure Moyes and the other coaches are thinking of less obvious options that would mean a square peg in a round hole.
