January Transfer Window 2026

Pretty ridiculous for him to suggest there wasn’t a right back in world football that we could attract. The bar is O’Brien and Patterson. It’s as low as it gets.

I’m not having him at all, another complete bluffer of a CEO who’s conned and talked his way into a position. You can spot it a mile off by just listening to these people speak. They just give off that vibe, Elstone was exactly the same, they just have a slimey film around them.

….its a balancing act with Branthwaite for me.

Of course you keep your best players but it makes sense to cash in a valuable asset if he’s rarely available to play. Given the type of injury he’s dogged by, I’d cash-in if the price is right.

We have to be hard-nosed with these matters.
He is in the main though isn't he?

Has a habit of picking up injuries during pre season but otherwise is quite reliable. Too many barbecues and beers in the off season perhaps

A decent striker would struggle with the same problems that our current ones do regarding being isolated. They may grab those missed chances by Beto/Barry more but they'd still get minimal chances. Our fullbacks don't provide any valuable width for us in terms of the attack.
They've got a combined xG of 5 between them and a good striker would possibly create more for themselves and/or over perform that. Which would put them up there

For comparison Igor Tiago at Brentford has a cumulative xG of 4.5 this year but is on 6 goals...

I think we create plenty.

….obviously the buying and selling of players should be part of a coherent, effective transfer strategy.

A long time ago we were in a similar situation with DCL and I did say we should cash-in whilst his stock is high. Maybe Branthwaite will be fine after his op.
Didn’t DCL refuse to leave though? Could have gone to Newcastle but ended up on a similar (?lower) salary at Leeds, although perhaps he got an up front offer.
The players hold the cards these days

According to AK there were no suitable RB we could sign in the summer and Id think there's likely even less options to be available in the winter window tbh.
Maybe was rumours we tried for forte and el hilali. Couldnt agree deals also depends if we could get a loan janulu sanchez, Sacha Boey. Deals can be made 100% at rb even in the winter window, striker will be harder. As most clubs be in for one and will out prices up

I don't think we create plenty of good chances. We create less than our attack realistically should for our strikers which is partly due to not having better fullbacks in that attacking respect. A better striker would likely score one or two of their poorest misses but I still think they'd struggle with isolation at times due to how we set up.

Really?

I think we do

Most games I feel like we create plenty of shots and quite a few of those are high quality chances in the box. Haven't looked at the stats as comparison with other teams but that's what my eyes tell me
I think we could do more to get the strikers involved in that, which is partly down to the strikers themselves but also tactical deployment. Just how I feel from what I have seen too. We miss out a lot from not having those fullbacks.

More of a winger/wing back, defending is not his strong point. We never made the position a priority for me when it was and Moyes seems happy with JOB, hell even Garner could play there at a push which would allow us too shuffle the midfield about. I don't see the RB situation changing anytime soon.

This is just my interpretation but I believe he's just parroting what Moyes has told him, because after the Tete move fell through, we ceased with any solid links with fullbacks. I think he's just towing the line as I'd imagine he's not that heavily involved in selecting players unlike Moyes

Well clearly not as he said in the summer that everything was on track and then a couple of days later in a press conference Moyes said we were behind where we wanted to be.

Fullbacks won't lift us out of the bottom half of the table when your seasawing backs and forwards due to a fundamental lack of goals.

The surgery might sort him out, fingers crossed

What concerns me is the medical team seem (I don't know) to not be on top of our muscular injuries for years now

Is he has been taking JOB off for garner to play at rb to give us more of an attacking threat and with coleman not getting a look in the side. Patterson most likely off i think we will bring in a rb. I dont think moyes is happy about both sides lb and rb is a big part of how moyes wants to attack going out wide create space for the wingers
