2025/26 David Moyes

The worrying thing for me, is that while you are right we could / should have been at least 0:2 up at half time, other than the Barry chance, the rest weren’t down to tactics or coaching etc, imo they were speculative / opportunistic / reliant on an individual bit of skill.
For me those chances masked a pretty average if not poor performance including the first 30 mins. As I said in the match thread, even the games we’ve won have been pretty spawny affairs, and more down to the oppositions own profligacy in front of goal than our performance.
Giving players the license to be creative is as much a tactical decision as anything else. We are trusting Grealish and NDiaye to produce.

Given the players available, what would your solution be? It’s easy to criticise, but it’s a lot harder to offer workable solutions.
Loads of people have offered solutions but you think every new signing is mince (despite them all being signed by Moyes) so we can only play the same 13 players over and over again. Personally, I'd move Garner to RB (regrettable as he's been very reliable in MF but we screwed ourselves by refusing to sign a RB) drop Tarkowski and play JOB at CB. I'd then play KDH, Gana and Rohl in central midfield and sack off the no. 10 position altogether and play a front three of Grealish, Alcaraz and N'Diaye. I'd play Dibling more from the bench too. Would it work? Dunno. But what we're doing now isn't working so we should try something different. We won't, though, because Moyes plays the same players in the same position no matter the players form and no matter the results. It's depressing.

Moyes has chosen to play differently. Why sign KDH, Grealish, Dibbling etc none of them fit into the way he played last season? As we've previously discussed if Moyes wanted us to play higher up the pitch the way we did last season with Branthwaite then he can move JOB into the middle, he's quicker than Branthwaite. He failed to address either full back position or have a back up/new first choice 6 etc in the summer window. This is all on him.
Christ, we saw JOB at centre preseason vs Bournemouth and he’s was disastrous. If O’Brien was good enough he would already have been moved, but the coaching staff clearly don’t think he is up to it at this stage, id he ever is.

i think we are all rightly very frustrated after last night but calls for him to be sacked are nonsense

let’s just carry on being a barmpot club giving managers millions to spend and sacking them after 10 games

you all sound like babies, this is what deliveroo and justeat has done to society, eroding the last scrap of patience we all had

he needs to try something new, he needs to get better out the players

he also has two strikers that can’t trap a ball, beat a man or hit the target

he’s taken a club on the brink and given it hope again

got brilliant form out of ndiaye and brought a player of Grealish’s class to the club

lets not all wet the bed

True, but if we’re putting all our eggs in that basket we are going to be in for a rough ride.
ā€˜Just get the ball to wor Jackie or wor Illy and then they can gie it laldy ’

this is the post of the decade!

some fans have short tinted specs

Load of tosh. We’ll see how things stand at the end of the season. Fact is, the team has been forced to play without its first choice defence for the whole season so far. Branthwaite makes a massive difference to how the whole team operates.
We've been without Branthwaite granted. That was always on the cards though. He is never going to be an ever present injury wise. All the more reason we should have got a right back in. Sorry, but that was unforgivable with the money we had available

Personally I don’t think we are playing with a no 10 in any conventional sense. KDH and Gana are supposed to be pushing forward into the half positions ahead of the sitter.

Thing is, Gueye’s legs seem to have gone a bit this season, so I would try Merlin next to KDH. But I’m guessing he still isn’t fully fit yet.

True. That defensive system last season just doesn’t work without Branthwaite. I’m assuming they never foresaw him getting injured in the summer.

Yeah, there we go. Whatever I proposed would've got this response from you.

Do you think we're doing well? Do you think we're playing well? Do you think the manager has the squad properly prepared for the matches? Of course you do, because you won't acknowledge that Moyes is capable of making mistakes. It's weird how much you stan for Moyes even after the tripe that's been served up since the Wolves cup match.

I wonder if making Ndiaye and Grealish play closer to the striker could make a difference? But then, is part of the issue that Beto and Barry just can’t play give and gos, etc at this level?
