Relegation Thread 25-26

I just don’t get how Moyes, very quickly after arriving last season, managed to turn us into a effective team yet despite having more tools at his disposal now has completely forgotten how to get a tune out of anyone.

We have been so disappointing this season. We couldn’t beat Villa or West Ham who both arrived absolutely begging us to do them, our win against Brighton could have easily gone differently, our win against Palace was an absolute miracle, we only started playing against the RS after going 2-0 down…

The manager’s stubbornness, game after game, is infuriating. Why has not given Alcaraz more of a go, why has not tried KDH deeper in midfield, why hasn’t he given JOB a go at centre back with Garner at right back?

I didn’t rate our transfer window highly as it was clear to me that we signed too many players that weren’t ready to make a serious impact on the starting 11 in the short term but I’m still shocked that we have somehow managed to regress from performance levels in the second half of last season with donkeys like Doucoure and Jack Harrison in the team.

I think 12th is the absolute minimum expectation this season and Moyes can’t achieve that, or doesn’t look likely to achieve it, then just get him gone.

Watching Wolves, West Ham and Burnley play footy.

That and the average points to stay up over the last couple of seasons.

You don’t need 40 points to guarantee you stay in the league anymore, it’s more like 35.

I don’t think this is anything like previous seasons to be fair. Neither West Ham or Forest are going down, West Ham just battered Newcastle which is a fixture most on here will be writing off for us.

If we'd won last night we'd be talking about Europe. The truth is that we've performed badly at times this season and have got away with it. Against Palace, Brighton and Sunderland we got points that we barely deserved. November and December look tricky and so FUlham this weekend is a big one.

70 points between the 3 teams at the bottom is more than the last 2, I think the last 2 it’s been close to 60.

I just don’t see us being in trouble, we are crap but I think we’ll be sound again. It doesn’t negate the fact we should be much better than where we will end up.

Spot on.

I'll be surprised if we end up in a serious dogfight, but I wouldn't say it's definitely off the table.

The overall standard down the bottom is better than it has been in recent years, and we look set to go an entire season without being able to field 11 players in their natural positions.

Can't just expect Ndiaye to score Roy of the Rovers goals every week.

I think the loss of Branthwaite and Beto's purple patch ending has been the reason we've gone backwards compared to the 2nd half of last season. Moyes type of management is percentage football so factors like the aforementioned make a big difference to a manager like Moyes

Every manager plays percentage football. They will pick the team they feel gives them the best chance of winning based on their perceived strengths and weaknesses and that of the opposition.
