Well thats the question...did he play a role in getting Barry? Its a while ago now but all I remember about the summer was him almost embarrassingly trying to tap up Delap and then spending the rest of the summer complaining...
It doesn’t matter now. Regardless of who punted Barry. Moyes has to kick the door down and say he can’t do his job if he’s his only choice.
The dodgy bit comes with who, our genius recruitment team come up with next.
It shouldn’t be this difficult ! How are you going to play, who fits ?

JOB at CB, Garner RB and Tim/Rohl CM is a stronger team than Tawks or Keane at CB JOB RB and Garner CM. We would play further up the field and have better distribution from RB. We didn't lose the game today because of our strikers. Our shape was absolutely terrible.

Tim doesn't have the positional awareness of Garner - we've seen that when Gana and Tim have partnered last season. Rohl hasn't played a full game to say he'll uproot our best midfield player.

JOB also hasn't shown at CB he's better than Keane or Tarks.

So all youre saying is changing the back 4 just for distribution from RB that will somehow improve the attacking 3rd?

Moyes was right to hook Barry. First half he missed a sitter and picked up a ridiculously stupid yellow. Then, just before he got subbed, he failed to hold the ball up.

At that point the manager had seen enough. But it’s a massive problem of course. Neither of our strikers are anywhere near the level required in the PL.
A sensible, common-sense, accurate comment?!? We'll have none of that here thank you very much!!!!

On the players we didn't kill the game in the first 30mins but.....
On the manager we didn't make the right changes (McNeil???) at the right time (Alcaraz/Timmy given only 13mins) in the second half.

Id have given alcaraz 45 mins. He missed the chance at the end but he's the type that would have created a few of them and made something of one.

That’s the thing. If it was as easy as people think the changes would have been made already.

We demonstrably have become a worse TEAM with KDH & Grealish in the starting 11. Just like we were a worse TEAM with Lineker playing.
Is that actually true though or an urban myth? Very hard to win back to back titles and the injury to Southall was probably what stopped us that year. Didn't we dominate Liverpool in the FA cup too and end up losing? I was only five at the time so have no idea.

Just like the first game against Leeds where it seemed we would have been happy with a point. We seem happy with a point here too?

Honestly wtf have we become
A club/team that thinks it's big time based on a few successes 40 years ago despite the refusal to ackowledge or accept that we are significantly miles and miles and miles behind almost every competitor in the current Premier League.

This was always going to be a tough game, but Moyes has me absolutely furious.

Hooking Barry off for Beto was absolutely pointless. Barry is the better player, and he desperately needs a goal. Moyes is destroying their confidence.

KDH is not a 10. We have a 10 sitting on the bench every single week and it’s getting ridiculous now.

Spending 45m on a player when we desperately needed fullbacks is unforgivable if you’re then going to put Dwight McNeil on the pitch before him.

Moyes is just constantly starting his little favourites now and it’s beginning to hurt the team. We are so off balance because he’s just shoe horning his favourite players in.

Personally dont think it changes much and the fact more sides are playing direct, long throws, and set pieces, removing more height from the team won't help.

Doesn't solve the final 3rd for me and moves our better player
Actually, Beto did well defensively when we were under pressure. Won a couple of headers in our box and helped us clear our lines

I think most are now agreed, on what has been obvious since the start of the season.

Hopefully neither of our CFs are here because Moyes “believes in them coming good” and that he’s arguing for mega change in January.

It would however help, in the interim, if he gave up on operation fiasco and left both of them out.

Attacking 3rd wasn't the issue tonight. If you have slow centre backs they play deep, which means the midfield drop deep too which leaves the attackers isolated and invites pressure. It cedes the initiative to the opposition and makes it harder to score/create. Having fullbacks with poor distribution has a similar effect. It's pretty basic tactics. Tim was our best midfielder against Brighton and changed the game against Palace. We should try to play midfielders who get us on the front foot, actual footballers, rather than players who's main quality is chasing.

TFG surely won't let Moyes last til Xmas if this is all the can produce. Most of this entire forum can predict the subs and outcome of games. It's boring.
Depends entirely on what their objectives are.

IF -after years of relegation dodging- they are content with a bog standard midtable finish in their first full year at a new ground with lots of squad upheval and exective-level upheval, then he's safe as houses.
