2025/26 David Moyes

The throw ins are something else. Every other team just picks up the ball and throws it easily to one of their team mates every time no questions asked. We spend ages agonising where to throw it and then either lash it down the line or throw it dead hard at someone coming short who immediately knocks it out of play.
Its like once the ball goes out of play, so do the players brains. they all just stand rooted to the spot, nobody makes that reactionary move for a quick throw.

Is anyone saying sack Moyes?

That’s too far in my opinion. I think general frustration is around opportunities missed and failings from his first time re-emerging.
No point sacking Moyes. However, absolutely essential we have a succession plan in place ready for May. Then we part with the Moyesiah. If he couldn't give us stability after 18 months, he has nothing left to give.

We need to take a step back being more solid in my opinion.

If we continue to play how we are, we will win some games, but loose just as many as their are big gaping holes in the team. We need to mix it up in the short term.

Midfield is were we are loosing control of games in my opinion, Garner and Idrissa just aren’t good enough to be winning the midfield bathe as a two.

Next game I’d go three in middle, Idrissa, Garner and Rohl. KDH drop out and we go 4-3-3.

If we don’t beat Sunderland he has to be sacked, I love Moyes, he’s been the best manager anyone under 40 has seen at the club, but if he starts the season with 11/12 points from 10 games and out of the league cup he has to go.

As much as I love him, Gana is the issue in the centre..

I dunno. He's getting a lot of criticism when we lose or draw home to west ham etc.. half time home to palace people were massively over reacting. Yesterday was terrible. But the guy is clearly a good manager and he will be as aware as we are of what is needed. It's gonna take time. I think it's just this forum that overreacts both ways. The annoying thing for me is the people making unfounded assumptions about players like Dibling "he's homesick" etc... we're a mid table club at the minute especially without a striker and that's where I suspect we'll finish. Some good results, some bad because that's what average inconsistent sides do.

Not convinced we have a two in there that would be strong enough without him mate, Rohl and Garner …..maybe.

Hes not been great in recent weeks admittedly.
Thats the problem tho, we're carrying a player cos of what he used to offer ( which i dispise myself for saying ) his best asset, has gone.

That 5/10 yard area around wherever he would position himself, he was the king of that area, so quick minded and speed in a smaller area,
Now instead of intercepting the ball he's intercepting the player.

But like you say, who else can do that job..

Maybe come Afcon we might see something different play out.

The struggle with our midfield is that now that Gana is no longer truly elite at winning the ball back - merely good - we don't have any midfield pairing that covers enough of what's required from a midfield two.

There's no combination of two players that has the energy, defensive positioning, ball winning and ball progression all covered.

Basically we're gagging for a truly great number 6. I know this probably seems insane but if I had 30m to spend on one player it would be there before striker or fullback (fullback is a close one though).

Our problem is that while we have made some decent signings on paper, they don't fit into our team dynamics. Having a left back who can't attack wouldn't be issue, if our tactics weren't entirely focused or giving ball to Grealish and expecting him to take on 5 players. We don't have a proper right back, so same problem on other side. We have a striker who can't hold ball and isn't ruthless enough in front of goal. So often Beto loses ball and our midfielders push up only to be left out of position. Add to that our central defenders aren't good enough. I don't think sacking Moyes will solve anything damage was done in summer when we didn't sign players we actually needed. We didn't deserve to beat Palace truthfully and we were arguably lucky against Brighton. I think we will struggle until January and fans will just have to accept it. We start Barry he plays poor, we then start Beto he plays poor, then fans call for Barry and he plays crap. They just aren't good enough.

Personally can’t wait for the AFCON because Everton managers and fans need to let go of the crutch that is playing Gana Gueye every single game in midfield. Everton have managed in their history to play football without him in a midfield you know but whenever it’s mentioned it’s like it’s an impossibility, ‘no it must be 4231 with Gueye in midfield’. I don’t see why, it’s an absolute terrible formation and he’s not even playing very well and has been part of every terrible Everton team we’ve had recently.

I’m looking forward to see an Everton manager finally forced just to pick someone else and not play a bloke in his mid 30s for 95 mins every week in the quickest physical competition in the world.

Garner sitting with Alcaraz and Rohl crashing the box ahead of him for me. KDH and Iroegbunam can compete for either of the two attacking mid positions.
