New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I'm in the South Upper, relatively central, just sort of in line with the 6 yard box towards the east stand box and I'm about 2 thirds of the way up. Been relatively lucky with my neighbours. Fella who sits in front of me seems sound, but what has surprised me a lot is the number of 60+ year olds around us. Firstly, that stand is meant to be the new Gwladys Street, why would you want to sit there if you're not one for any singing etc, and secondly it's really steep - not the best for anyone not brilliant on their feet anyway.

We haven't had anyone moaning about singing or telling people to sit down etc, but the demographic of the stand is off. I'm not saying we need every scal in the ground there (well, actually that would help), but I really think that there's a sizeable number of people who made questionable decisions about where they wanted to sit.

No.

For a number of reasons
Been v clear since before the stadium opened that car travel was going to be problematic. I can appreciate this is a pain, but it won't be changing. If I were you I'd be parking up by a Merseyrail station on the Wirral and doing it that way. There's no way whatsoever I'd be driving to BMD unless I was with a disabled supporter

First time there yesterday. In the family section because of the ballot. Atmosphere not great and the sound system wasn't that good to be honest.

The constant rubbish music needs to be looked at. Felt like an early 2000 wedding disco both in and out at times.

It depends if you, or one of your group has mobility issues or not. You can park in the city centre and use the shuttle bus. Or park and ride at any of the Wirral line stations and walk from town or Sandhills.

If you're able-bodied but still insistent on needing to drive, then unless you park further away from the ground, with perhaps better access to the tunnel, you'll have to accept the long delay...... as you're one of those causing it.

When the transport plan was first published it was made eminently clear that the site could not support anywhere near the same volume of cars as at GP, and that a major modal shift to public transport and/or walking was required. Stating clearly that many supporters would need to leave their cars at home for the stadium's transport plan to function. Evidently, many drivers still think that was not addressed to them.

It will settle down .... one would hope ...

It won't because it can't. There is 33% more people at the game than Goodison and, because it's adjacent to a river, there is 50% less land surrounding it to accommodate parking etc. It is also in a far less accessible road system (because there aren't anything like the same number of ways to get there).

I don't know how much clearer the club could have been about the fact that public transport and/or walking was going to be the mode of travel that most people would need to adopt. The only way the roads are going to settle down is if people stop taking their cars anywhere near the ground.

The transport plan needs constant feedback and further ongoing revision. Seems to me, its "this is our plan, just get on with it"

Ferry access should have been sorted as it was for the Kings Dock - plus in the planning permission originally all the problems should have been sorted - thanks Bill .....

TBF The Liverpool City Council would move heaven & earth if it was the other lot in this predicament .....as they did for their Anfield ground improvements -

Shuttle buses to the ground from Lime Street is the best idea ATM ....

I get your point though ....

Anyone know the attendance yesterday?
52,501

The best attendance yet but suspect that was because of more coroporate/expensive seating sold due to Spurs being one of the sky 6. If Fulham bring the full 3,000 will be interesting to see the attendance as it's a Saturday 3pm but I can see it being below 52K again due to the expensive tickets not going.

Comedy of errors at Sandhills station yesterday, have had little to complain about up to then if I'm honest. But waiting for Hunts Cross train after queuing up before and on the steps to the station, first two trains were for Central, we were told by a guard the next train was Hunts Cross 8 carriages, just as we were getting on was told the train changes at Central ? Asked why he didn't know, so really we could have got on the earlier Central trains, so gets off at Central short wait ten minutes gets on Hunts Cross train again, again 8 carriages, told by announcement train does not stop at Cressington. Starts going Guard on train pulls emergency stop....at Cressington ! All told to get off train as it goes no further, no explanation. Train reverses out of way 15 minutes later the new train to Hunts Cross arrived gets off at the station at 20:30. Drive home and chillies in for 21:00 . If I could have shook Steve Rotherhams neck at that time it would have been well worth it.

Just my feelings after 4/5 games? I'm just not enjoying it. Getting to and from the ground isn't an issue, no problems there. I think I'm a bit of a creature of habit. Miss seeing the same faces on the walk up, getting onto the concourse and seeing familiar faces in their usual spots and then being in the game with the people I'd sat with for many years. The different characters around me and the one who always shouts obscenities at the same player every week who you learn to ignore. The pre-match and half-time chats with your mates and having a proper catch up from the previous game about life in general to talking about the game and how it's going.

It's obviously a time thing and you get to know your neighbours as time goes on but I look back and think how good I had it. The match was something to look forward to but I'm just not feeling it right

The same thing has happened with me. It’s almost always someone different around me. I don't hold it against the people getting themselves a one-off ticket for the big day. It’s on the club that allows such a flawed system. They've priced out loads of old school regulers and made impossible for loads of others to attend. One of the few things that made the final years of Goodison bearable was the fact that there was a close community of people who had sat together for years. It’s all gone now and the worst elements of quiet Goodison is multiplied by 10k. The ballot system does not work. The club needs to look into people who got a season ticket yet sell it on every single game. There might be a perfectly legitimate reason that some of them can't attend (I've had to pass on my season ticket ticket once this season too) but if its becoming a patten for no good reason then it needs cutting out.
I’ve been fortunate so far that work hasn’t got in the way of getting to a match but I know it will happen at some point.

Like you say, passing a ticket along is fine, but every game? Why so Uncle Ted and Aunty Flo can go to the new stadium, and then Baz from down the pub can go the week after?

Unfortunately I think we’re stuck with this until the novelty wears off.

At least there were no big blocks of empty seats yeaterday like there was in the upper East stand at the Palace game
