Agreed. If the atmosphere isn't great, you can't blame the stadium alone because let's be honest the sound is pretty brilliant when it gets going.
The facilities are top-notch too. The issue lies much deeper with the performances and, let's be honest, the nature and culture of the fan base too.
We had the same issue in Goodison for many years, when patches of the fan base are loud, whereas the majority are quite timid and prefer a grumble.
I've moved from where I sat in the Lower Gwladys which was a brilliant place for atmosphere, to somewhere which is much more placid.
You can't force people to sing! Maybe a reorganisation of STs to generate areas which are more vocal could be a long-term plan.
Better football on display, with more victories, will obviously help with remedying the malaise, but if I am honest I think we've got an aging fan base.

I went to Sandhills for the first time.
Honestly, don’t think it could have gone any better with the amount of people there but I did feel a bit unsafe with just how many people were being crammed onto the train.
Headbolt lane was only a four carriage service.

Never leave the ground before final whistle. Decided to catch the train both ways from Lime St. Last time waited for train at Sandhills. Stood waiting with a young kid for next train ( 1st one being full ) Got to Lime St 1hr 15mins later. So last night decided to walk all the journey as recommended by many on here. Both of us soaked to the skin. Might give some of the winter games a miss with icy pavements / driving wind and rain. Goodison I didnt mind as parked on Stanley Park.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… there’s too many day trippers at the moment.
Every home game has seen different people in the seats in front of us either side of us. We got our seats in the first group when season tickets became available and the ones around us all went by the third or fourth group.
0-2 down and Pawson as the ref, yep, we weren't coming back. I've just seen the foul on Gana, how was that not a penalty/??

We do the same. Walk down was a bit grim yesterday but for us the overall journey time home is slightly less than at Goodison and as you say don’t get held up in traffic
I tend to agree, of sorts. The flip side would be that they've paid their money to attend, so how they do that is up to them, I suppose.
But, I do think as a fan base there's too many of us older fans, with some who perhaps may be stuck in the past, living off when we were in our pomp.
We laugh about the Park End das and all that jazz, yet let us be honest there's some truth in it. I'm now in the south upper for a number of reasons...
... and it's nothing like when I was in the Gwladys: everyone sits, very few fans sing and even when there's a contentious decision it's all a bit meh.
My son next to me and a lad in his late teens to my left stand out because they are younger and are taking to make a noise.

Just my feelings after 4/5 games? I'm just not enjoying it. Getting to and from the ground isn't an issue, no problems there. I think I'm a bit of a creature of habit. Miss seeing the same faces on the walk up, getting onto the concourse and seeing familiar faces in their usual spots and then being in the game with the people I'd sat with for many years. The different characters around me and the one who always shouts obscenities at the same player every week who you learn to ignore. The pre-match and half-time chats with your mates and having a proper catch up from the previous game about life in general to talking about the game and how it's going.
It's obviously a time thing and you get to know your neighbours as time goes on but I look back and think how good I had it. The match was something to look forward to but I'm just not feeling it right now.

The same thing has happened with me. Its almost always someone different around me. I don't hold it against the people getting themselves a one-off ticket for the big day. Its on the club that allows such a flawed system. They've priced out loads of old school regulers and made impossible for loads of others to attend. One of the few things that made the final years of Goodison bearable was the fact that there was a close community of people who had sat together for years. Its all gone now and the worst elements of quiet Goodison is multiplied by 10k. The ballot system does not work. The club needs to look into people who got a season ticket yet sell it on every single game. There might be a perfectly legitimate reason that some of them can't attend (I've had to pass on my season ticket ticket once this season too) but if its becoming a patten for no good reason then it needs cutting out.
