It's very simple....... Far too many people parking in and around the Ten Streets area. Rendering the shuttle buses practically unusable for at least an hr before and after the match.
The Grt Howard St junctions at Costco and Leeds St cannot cope with the number of cars and it practically grinds to a halt for an hr or more before and after. Hopefully, a proper Bus Lane with priority at these lights will be fully implemented soon..... as the novelty of the new stadium will wear pretty thin as the weather inevitably worsens.
Tbh, if you're going to the Wirral and you're able-bodied, you would be far better off walking to town and getting the train. Then people with genuine mobility issues, and the rest of us using public transport would at least be able to get to and from the stadium in reasonable time. Not everyone is a diehard fanatic and will put up with it as it is for too long. The numbers leaving early regardless of performance is also quite telling.
Imo, Grt Howard St should be closed to all but blue badged cars or those with corporate parking for at least that hour either side of the match.
