2025/26 David Moyes

Oh the worm always turns on here. The most vocal posters on here are among the most knee jerk and reactionary lot you'll ever hear from. There's never any medium ground with them on managers. The boss is either our lord and saviour blessing us and the greatest man that ever lived. Or he's a waste of space and isn't fit to manage a bunch of drunks having a kick about in the park. I wouldn't take the loudest voices on here very seriously, they rarely reflect the feelings of GOT, never mind our match going and winder fan base.
You can say that about all football forums.

He ran the show at Newcastle last season through the centre. Their midfield and centre halves never knew how to pick him up.
To me it sealed the deal. Give him an extended run there. He's a clever player with ability and pops in goals.
I cant work Moyes out other than he just doesnt fancy him.
I wonder if KDH was a complete Moyes identified signing as the Kinnear and the recruitment group were not in place. I think he has a stubborn streak which would for me explain his persistence w KDH. Totally agree re Alcatraz.

We are a quarter of the way into the season.

Out of the league cup to a team who hasn't won in the league.

Out of the three promoted teams we have one more point than the mighty Burnley.

One win in the last seven games and that was against Palace. We got lucky in that first half to be only behind by one.

I thought our motto is " Nil Satis, Nisi Optimum " Not " Other than the scoreline it was an even game "

Are people seriously saying we played well yesterday? Jesus tonight.

I'm not surprised, You are being very silly on KDH Zat. He never asked to play there and has said its not his best role yet is still up there for created chances, passes into the final third etc, etc. Its on Moyes that not the player, and he loves a square peg in a round hole, it must be the Scottish version of total football or something. Yes Rohl has had a few injuries but if we can get on top of it (he is fit now) and manage his minutes then he is 100% our best midfielder by a mile. Branthwaite doesn't look especially robust these days and I doubt you want rid of him.

If you take the £116mil quoted and add on the additional £32.5mil I referenced then were at £148.5mil - call it £150mil

I posted in 2023 that I'd go for KDH, paired with Garner and have Onana as the anchor. We arent using that setup or style, so the signing makes no sense to me. KDH (as i said in summer) typically occupies the same/similar spaces as Gana in that left midfield area.

The summer recruitment strategy seems to have been unplanned. Signings have been made with no thought to formation, positions or style of play - short term impact or long term development also seem to have not been considered for most players.

For £150mil I think the strategy should have been more definined into either;

A: Short term high impact
B: Long term development

It's fine to have a blend of both but KDH and Barry for example dont fit into either category.

It seems like a total mess to me, as I said in the summer.

I still cant get over how comfortable Spurs were all match. We had real quality on the pitch and Moyes used it like a First World War general sending lads over the top into no man's land - waves and waves of pointless attacks achieving nothing and just going nowhere.

Have you seen who our manager is? don't think player development is high on his priority list tbh, he is more about the here and now. You need to remember that during the summer we didn't really have a proper recruitment team as the individuals were still being appointed in their job roles, also a number of more established players turned us down due to lack of Euroball, previous relegation fights, or simply didn't want to play under safety first Moyes. Id expect things to be much better structured going forward.

Moyes used to have a reputation for actually being careful with money. Then he left the club and failed in most of his signings beyond then - until now.

It was a major failure to give him control of transfers in the summer.

There were posters convinced he had nothing to do with any signings.

He'll have his fingers all over future windows as well.

Instead of questions about why we didn’t sign fullbacks or a different type of striker, we should be asking why are we playing a system that demands overlapping fullbacks when we don’t have decent ones? Is anyone else in the prem even playing this way any more? It’s ridiculously high risk/low reward to throw your fullbacks beyond the ball and allow a slow wide player to cut inside, it’s basically game over whenever they lose it.

Last season we finished playing a counter attack style and no one cared who the fullbacks were. They just sat in whilst Alcaraz McNeil and Ndiaye found forward passes to Beto on the counter. Now we’re trying to play like a BTEC version of Wenger’s worst Arsenal teams except we have a striker who can’t hold the ball up playing and fullbacks who can’t cross a ball, and even if they could there’s no one to head it.

I don’t know what Moyes is doing, none of it makes any sense whatsoever

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and for me Moyes isn’t the long term issue at this club we have had one window to fix things it’s a work in progress. I can’t even be arsed arguing with the anti Moyes brigade truth is there entitled to there opinion to. It’s tiresome to the point of losing interest in even posting to the contrary.

I don't particularly care if he stays or goes, but surely it's dawned on some of you that just sacking managers without a truly good upgrade line-up or even available is a really bad idea.

If anybody wants a knee-jerk sacking to some bad results they are dumb. Especially if we don't have a proper backup plan

I haven't seen anybody say that, altho i'd suspect it of some of the posters who only post the odd short angry comment

Id be happy to see him gone, as I feel there's nothing to look forward to with him. It's like an extended interim manager period to me. However even tho they are new owners I still don't trust the club to have a proper plan so will be nervous about their next choice whenever it happens

He needs to change course this week. Train a new system, or make a selection change. Just throwing the same 11 out again is not going to work and if Sunderland beat us then the alarm bells will be ringing.

I think he will be gone in the summer tbh
